ELLICOTT CITY, Md. - Ronald J. Crosier, 81, a 52-year resident of Adams Road, South Glens Falls, passed away quietly Tuesday, Aug. 9, surrounded by his children and family after an extended battle with Lewy Body dementia.
Ronald was born Nov. 26, 1929, in East Greenwich N.Y., to Ralph David and Nelly (Conety) Crosier. He grew up at Fitch's Point and Salem where he attended a one-room schoolhouse in East Greenwich as a young boy. Ronald graduated from Washington Academy in Salem, Class of 1947. He lettered in football, track, basketball and baseball. He enlisted in the Navy upon graduation.
On June 28, 1958, he married Marjorie Elizabeth Middleton of North Granville N.Y., at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church. He and Marge moved to South Glens Falls after the honeymoon in Daytona Beach, Fla. They both were active in the Lake George Bowling League for many years. They were married for 34 years before her death in 1992.
For 30 years, Ronald was employed by Dorn's Transportation of Albany N.Y. and Oneida Motors, amassing more than 2 million miles of safe driving without an accident. He served as a teamster's shop steward during his tenure and retired in 1985. During retirement, he worked at Wilhelm Auto and Fleet/ Norstar Bank in Queensbury until 1997.
During retirement, he pursued many hobbies including traveling across the country visiting his children and grandchildren, and especially exploring historical areas of the Southwest deserts, including California, Arizona and Nevada. At 68, he enjoyed a white water rafting trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. Other hobbies included gardening, swimming, reading and anything to do with automobiles and trucks, farm equipment and local history. He spent many hours researching the family genealogy and became a Washington County historical resource for other Crosier genealogists located around the country. He assisted numerous local historians with fact checking and records.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Elizabeth (Middleton), who passed away in 1992, and his brother, Ralph Crosier, who passed away in 2010.
Survivors include his sons, Ronald J. Crosier Jr., wife, Hillery, granddaughters Jacqueline Anne, Hayley Alexandra, Hannah Elizabeth and Addison Grace of Charlotte, N.C.; Jeff Crosier, wife Elaine of Aliso Viejo, Calif., and granddaughter Lisa Marie of Richland, Wash., and his daughter Julie A. Schmidt and her husband Sam of Ellicott City, Md.
Ronald is also survived by his long-time friend Joyce Nichols and her loving family. Brother and sister-in-laws Louis and Alice Kabat of Beverly Hills, Fla., and sister-in-law Annie Middleton of Albany, and several nieces and nephews
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the entire staff of Summit Park Health and Rehabilitation Center of Catonsville, Md., who gave love and support to him during the last phase of his life and the many staff members of Evercare Hospice who provided their vast expertise and guidance through the difficult challenge of losing a loved one to a debilitating disease.

BARRE CITY - Carmen M. Crosier, 93, of Brooklyn Street passed away Tuesday Dec. 13, 2011, at her home after a long illness.
Born in Waterbury on April 5, 1918, she was the eighth of nine children born to Rufino E. and Maria Jesus (Safont) Mier. She attended St. Monica Catholic School in Barre and was in the first graduating class from that school. She graduated from St. Michael's High School in Montpelier in 1938. Carmen was very athletic; her sport was swimming becoming a lifeguard and later a life guard instructor. After high school she was employed as a waitress in Bennington to save money for nursing school.
In January of 1944, she married Joseph A. Crosier Sr., who was in the United States Army in training in Carabel, Fla. She travelled there while he was in training, returning to Barre after he was shipped to the Fiji War front in Fiji.
Carmen was a very devout Catholic who attended daily mass. After her children were born she was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her children and in later years with her beloved grandchildren.
At the age of 50, she moved into her own home on Brooklyn Street which she had prayed for all of her life. It was the center of her family life and one of the greatest joys of her life.
Carmen's husband, Joseph Sr. passed away in 1991. She is survived by her two sons, Joseph Crosier, Jr., of Barre and Tulsa, Okla., and Monsignor Raymond R. Crosier of Amarillo, Texas. Her daughter Ruth Mary Crosier passed away in May of 2009. She is also survived by her sister Conchita Bouchard of Bristol, Conn. Also surviving are her two grandchildren, Michael Quaronta, Jr. and his wife, Laura and their daughter, Nora; Tiffany Vitagliano and her husband, Justin and their two girls, Mia and Gemma.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre with her son, Monsignor Raymond Crosier of Amarillo, Texas as the celebrant.
Family and friends may call at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre on Sunday, Dec. 18, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Entombment will be in the Elwood Vault in Barre with a later spring burial in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Duxbury.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Carmen Mary Crosier Scholarship
Fund, c/o Central Vermont Catholic School, 79 Summer St., Barre, VT 05641. (checks to be made payable to "Central Vermont Catholic School)
Arrangements are in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre.

Laura L. Workman, 94 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Beatrice Manor Care Center Thursday morning, March 10, 2011. She was born on December 5, 1916 at Beatrice to Frank and Grace (Neuman) Milke, and lived in Beatrice her entire life. She attended Beatrice High School. Laura and Ralph Workman were married in Beatrice, and Laura had been employed at Peterson's Nursing Home, the Mennonite Hospital, John J. Pershing College, and at the Martin Luther Home for 10 years. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Beatrice and had been a member of the Dorcas Circle and the LWML of the church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and cooking.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Merna Jordening and husband Lloyd of Beatrice, and Dorothy Crosier and husband Robert of Lincoln; sister Gretchen Carel of Beatrice; brother Harry Milke of Beatrice; 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Grace (Neuman) Milke; husband Ralph Workman (1978); sons Duane Workman (1985) and LaVern Workman (1986); 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; and 6 brothers.
A memorial has been established to the St. Paul's Lutheran School with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in charge.
Interment will be at the Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs, Nebraska.
The body will lie in state Sunday from noon-9:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice and at the church one hour preceding the service on Monday. A family prayer service will be held at 9:45 A.M. Monday at the church
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 14, 2011 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Beatrice with Reverend Timothy Wagner and Reverend Douglas Irmer officiating.

Oliver D. Crosier
Oliver D. Crosier died at the hospital this morning at 5 o'clock in the 66th year of his age. His death was caused by pneumonia with which he had been sick but a short time. He went to to Rutlsnd, Vt. to work about four weeks ago and returned to this city Saturday seriously ill. He was taken to the hospital Monday but continued to fail steadily till death ensued.
Mr. Crosier was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Crosier and was born at Halifax, Vt. September 3, 1835. His parents moved to North Adams when he was a young boy and he lived here for many years. He had been from this city most of the time since 1816 being located in Troy, N.Y. much of that time. Last winter he was sick at the home of his son in this city and left for Rutland as soon as he felt able to go to work. He did mechanical work of various kinds and was well known by all the older residents of the city.
Mr. Crosier leaves two sons and three daughters , Fred Crosier of this city, John Crosier, Mrs. Alice L. Nutting, Mrs. Ida Douse and Mrs. W. J. Leonard who live in Vermont. He is also survived by three brothers and a sister, Alonzo of this city, Charles and William L. Crosier of Williamstown, and Mrs. C. M. Bradley of this city.
The funeral will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the home of Fred Crosier 95 Bracewell Avenue. Rev Alien K. Wright conducting the service. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.

Norman Victor Blair, 67, of 46 1/2 Hall St. died Thursday at home after a brief illness.
Born in North Adams on Oct. 20, 1934, son of the late James H. and Clara McPhail Blair, he attended North Adams schools.
He served in the Army.
Mr. Blair was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. and, most recently, as a painter for David Wood Painting Co. until ill health forced his retirement seven years ago.
He was a 58-year member of First Baptist Church. In his youth, he was a speed skater and had skated in Madison Square Garden in New York. He was an accomplished piano player and also sang on live radio. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He and his wife, the former Celia A. Millett, were married Nov. 2, 1966. Three sons, Norman J. Blair of Deerfield, and James F. Blair and Kenneth C. Pearson Jr., both of North Adams; five daughters, Tammy Jaskaluski and Debra Harding, both of Jupiter, Fla., Melissa Blair and Jeanne Carey, both of North Adams, and Theresa Rooney of Hot Springs, Ark.; 20 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Elizabeth J. Wheeler, died in 1998.
The funeral will be conducted Monday at 1 at AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Sandra Hehe, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 5 to 8. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations may be made to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire Inc. through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.

Celia A. (Millett) Blair, 68, of 42 Isbell St., North Adams, died Thursday evening at home.
Born in Greenfield on Feb. 17, 1937, daughter of Clifton M. and Celia (Letourneau) Millett, she attended schools there.
Mrs. Blair had worked as a certified nursing sssistant for 18 years at the former Willowood Nursing Home and the former Franklin Street Nursing Home in North Adams. She enjoyed fishing, picnicking, and having cookouts with her beloved family.
Her husband Norman V. Blair, whom she married Nov. 2, 1966, died Aug. 1, 2002.
She leaves two sons, Kenneth C. “Chuck” Blair and his wife, Christine, and James F. Blair and his wife, Terry, all of North Adams; four daughters, Theresa J. Rooney and her husband, Thomas, of Greenfield, Jeanne M. Carey and her partner, Michael Townsend, of Amherst, Debra A. Harding and her husband, Donald, of Jupiter, Fla., and Melissa A. Blair and her fiancé, David Martin, of North Adams; three brothers, Edward P. Millett of Texas, Clifton M. Millett Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Kansas, and Leon F. Millett of Rhode Island; two sisters, Mary M. Nelson, and her husband, Robert, of Greenfield and Alice T. Guerrin, of Trenton, N.J.; 19 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.
A daughter, Elizabeth J. Wheeler, died May 22, 1998, and a brother, Melvin A. Millett, in 2001.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Celia Blair will be conducted Monday, Nov.14, at 1 at Auge-San Soucie-Simmons Funeral Home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, by the Rev. Jill Graham, pastor of First Congregational Church of North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
