Deceased Name: Mable (Hathaway) Weller
BENNINGTON - Mable (Hathaway) Weller, 98, died Sunday at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation.
She was born Jan. 13, 1902, in Bennington, daughter of Joseph and Marcia (Campbell) Hathaway.
She attended the one-room Bushnell School and graduated from the old Bennington High School in 1920.
She was the wife of Bert O. Weller, who died in 1965.
Mrs. Weller taught for 50 years at various schools in the area. She had also worked in construction in Whitingham and South Carolina. She taught for more than 10 years at the former Maple Grove School in East Pownal and retired from the Bennington school system.
Mrs. Weller was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bennington and had served on its board of trustees and as its financial secretary. She was active in the Women's Society and in all programs of the church. She was also active in the Mount Anthony Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, which she joined in 1933, serving as its worthy matron in 1938.
She had lived in the family home until moving to the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in 1989.
Survivors include a grandnephew, James V. Provencal III of Cranston, R.I.; a great-grandnephew, Rory J. Provencal; a great-grandniece, Jamie Lee Provencal; and cousins Mary B. Patterson and Earl Campbell, both of Pownal Center, and Ronald Knapp of Bennington.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy E. Hathaway, who died in 1990, and Pauline Crosier, who died in 1996.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Bennington by the Rev. Norma G. Drosky, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Park Lawn Cemetery. The Red Mountain Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star will hold a service at the cemetery.

1930-2010 BENNINGTON Mrs. Phyllis Irene Dickinson, 79, widow of Ralph L. Dickinson, a resident of Burgess Road in Bennington, Vt., died Wednesday, Mar. 10, 2010, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.
Born in Bennington, June 4, 1930, daughter of William and Florence Crosier Hattat, she received her education at a one room school house in Pownal, Vt., and was a 1948 graduate of Bennington High School.
She married Ralph L. Dickinson on July 2, 1950, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bennington. Mr. Dickinson died Mar. 20, 2002.
In earlier years Phyllis was employed as a dental assistant in North Adams, Mass. She later worked for Dr. John Irons in Bennington, and was an office manager for Edward Studwell and Salstroms. For many years she worked as an office manager for both Dr. William Burnham and Dr. Michael Brady, from which she retired.
Following her retirement Phyllis worked part time for Dr. Justin Salem. Phyllis was also a well known seamstress in the Bennington area.
She was a member of the Mount Anthony Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf. She also enjoyed running, cross country skiing, snow shoeing and yoga. Phyllis was also a member of the Red Hat Society and a very active member of Saint Peter's Episcopal Church where she served as an usher and was a member of the vestry. In earlier years she was a member of the Bennington Club where she loved to dance.
She leaves her daughter, Lisa Ann Dunbar and her husband, Steven, and their daughter, Caroline Dunbar of Mount Tabor; a brother, Milton Hattat of Pownal; her nephews, Jeff Hattat and his wife, Cheryl, of Lebanon, N.Y., Chris Hattat and his wife, Linda, of North Adams, Greg Hattat and his wife, Colleen, and their son, Javery, of Pownal; and her niece, Lynn Dean and her husband, Kevin, of Pownal.
She was predeceased by a brother, Wellington Hattat.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from St. Peters Episcopal Church on Monday, Mar. 15, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Mother Anita Schell Lambert, Rector, officiating. The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at THE MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Monday, Mar. 15, from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
