Record of the descendants of William Sumner, of Dorchester, Mass., 1636 By William Sumner Appleton above says lived in Chesterfield, N.H. From Ancestry.com message board: Posted: 30 Jun 1999 I am searching for information about my maternal grandfather, William Huber, born March 8, 1860, at Halifax, WINDHAM County, VT. On the birth registration, his parents are listed as William J. & Barbra Huber, both born in Germany. Family information claims that William was adopted by Thomas & Albina Crosier Sumner & lived in Brattleboro. Whether there was a legal adoption & what happened to his birth parents is unknown. However, at the time of his marriage in 1893, to Elizabeth Belle Heizer, in Chicago IL, he was known as William Huber Sumner. A search of the 1860 U.S. Census for Halifax & Brattleboro failed to locate any of the above persons. Any assistance or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. |
