From:The Times from San Mateo, California · Page 10, August 10, 1959 Reception In Garden: A garden reception at the San Mateo home of the bridegroom's parents, the Lewis W. Roes, followed the recent marriage of Sara Jane Rawcliffe and Robert Lewis Roe. The couple received in a background of green and white bells and bows. Sally, as the bride is known, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Shaw Rawcliffe. The Episcopal Church of St. Matthew was the setting for the afternoon ceremony, which was conducted by the Rev. Lesley Wilder. For her wedding. Sally wore a short gown of white lace. A cummerbund of white satin piping edged the tiny sleeves and scoop neckline. Sally's shoulder length veil was held in place by a crown cap dotted with pearls. She carried an arrangement of lily of the valley, stephanotis, and gardenia buds on a white prayer book. Powder blue silk organza was worn by the three attendants who preceded the bride to the altar. Sally's longtime friend and classmate Myrtle Greenhill was the maid of honor. Bridesmaid duties were shared by Sally's sister, Joan Shaw Rawcliffe, and Robert's sister, Pat Roe. The girls carried crescent shaped bouquets of elegance carnations.
