Nancy Crosier Newell ’57, of W. Hyannisport, MA, died Oct. 11, 1999, after a long illness. An English major at Skidmore, she worked at a radio station for 17 years before earning a nursing degree from Cape Cod Community College in 1984. Nancy is survived by a son, daughter, and three grandchildren; husband Henry predeceased her in 1980.

Nancy Hope (Crosier) Newell, a former nurse at the Cape Cod Hospital Exended Care Community Manor and a resident of the Cape for 39 years, died Oct. 18 at the hospital in Hyannis after a long illness. She was 64.
Born, raised, and educated in Brockton, she graduated from Skidmore College in New York with a bachelor's degree in English.
Mrs. Newell worked for 17 years for WOCB, the Cape's first radio station, which began broadcasting in the late 1940s.

Nancy Newell, 64 Former nurse at the Manor worked at Cape radio stationCENTERVILLE - Nancy Hope (Crosier) Newell, 64, a Cape resident for 39 years, died Monday at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community - Pavilion in Hyannis after a long illness.
She was the wife of Henry Hall Newell Jr., who died in 1980.
Born, raised and educated in Brockton, she graduated from Skidmore College in Skidmore, N.Y., with a bachelor's degree in English.
Mrs. Newell worked for 17 years for WOCB, the Cape's first radio station, which began broadcasting in the late 1940s. Since it was the only radio station on the Cape for many years, Mrs. Newell often appreciated being part of "journalistic history." She was particularly moved during the jubilant night in 1960 at the Armory in Hyannis when John F. Kennedy accepted the concession from Richard M. Nixon in the presidential election.
At age 45, she returned to college and earned her registered nursing degree. She was also certified as an acute spinal cord injury nurse.
A dedicated nurse, she worked for more than 10 years at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community - Manor, where she was known for her humor, generosit ability to make patients feel at ease.
She enjoyed Boston sports, fishing and travel. She also was an avid player of Jeopardy.
She is survived by a son, Henry Hall Newell III of Midway a daughter, Elizabeth Newell Wurfbain of Centerville and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 30 at the South Congregational Church on Main Street in Centerville. Burial is private.

Youth Dies In Hospital After Crash
Paul Crosier, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Royal Crosier of North Bennington, Vt., died yesterday in Putnam Memorial Hospital, Bennington, of injuries received Sunday noon in an auto crash on the Bennington College Highway. Crosier was a passenger in a car operated by Thomas Grady, 16, of Bennington, which struck a tree. Crosier suffered a fractured skull and fractures of both legs. Grady, hospitalized, was less seriously injured. Crosier was born in Bennington, Sept. 11, 1936 and was a freshman at North Bennington High School last year where he was a member of the varsity baseball team and also was active in playing basketball. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and had been a charter member of the cub scout pack of North Bennington. He attended St. John's Church, North Bennington.. Survivors include his parents; a brother, Frank Simeon Crosier, a sister, Arla Crosier, his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Crosier and two aunts, Mrs. Phyllis Crosier Eldred and Mrs. Catherine Remington Powers, all of North Bennington. The funeral will be held at 9 a.m., Thursday from St. John's Church, North Bennington.
