A Hearty Recsption to ex-Chief Crosier
          -A Veteran's Brave Deed-F.
IV!. T. A. Concert and Ball to
          Come Friday Night.
          A Hourly Hecepilou,
The reception teudo'e.l by Galtf Hose company Monday evening to ex-Chief W. L. Crosier was a hearty one. Practically all of the members were present and the occasion was greatly enjoyed in spite of the fact that it marked the retirement of Chief Crosier from the position. The first speaker was George W. Nichols, who spoke of Mr. Crosier's valuable services in H.ilchng up the fire department and as its chief since it was formed. After further complimentary remarks he said the company could not allow the occasion to pass without giving to the retiring chief some token of their regard. At this point an unusually large and elegant oak rocker upholstered in leather was brought in. P. J. Dempsoy made a fitting and happy presentation speech, to which Mr. Crosier feelingly responded. He hoped the firemen would stand faithfully by the new board of engineers and strive to be a model company in the future, as they had been in the past. There were short talks by various members, all of whom expressed their high appreciation of Mr. Crosier's services and kind treatment at oil time. Refreshments were served and it was after 11 o'clock when the firemen left the hose room, where the reception was held. A delegation accompanied Mr. Crosier to his home on Water street, carrying the mammoth chair. On their arrival at the house Mrs. Crosier, who had retired, was called to see the beautiful present and after a social chat for half an hour or so the delegation withdrew. Mr, Crosier values the gift iiighly and will treasure it as a memento of the cordial relations which existed between himself and the members of Gale Hose company who served under him. .
