Agnes B. Crosier
NORTH SPRINGFIELD - Agnes B. Crosier, 88, died March 4, 2012, at Springfield Hospital, following an extended period of declining health.
She was born Feb. 24, 1924, in North Springfield, the daughter of Clarence and Beatrice (Whitcomb) Bryant.
She graduated from Springfield High School in 1941 and from Gifford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Randolph in 1945.
On Oct. 3, 1945, she married Bernard H. Crosier.
Mrs. Crosier worked at Springfield Hospital, Gifford Hospital in Randolph, and as a school nurse at the Vermont State School of Agriculture in Randolph Center. Later, she volunteered as a nurse at American Red Cross blood donation events.
She was active in the Baptist Church and Advent Christian Church in Randolph and North Springfield where she sang in the choirs and organized bake sales and bazaars. She also served her church as nurse at Camp Anderson in Shutesbury, Mass. In later years, she knit lap robes and mittens for Springfield Santa Claus Club and she supported Springfield Family Center Food Shelf.
She enjoyed camping in the U.S. and Canada.
Survivors include her husband of North Springfield; four children, Candice Fortier of Richford, Wayne Crosier of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Ernest Crosier of Chester and Lon Crosier of Woodbridge, Va.; a brother, the Rev. Cushman Bryant of Dowling Park, Fla.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Crosier was predeceased by a daughter, Darlene Pudvah; and four siblings, Beulah Stone, Helen Martin, Everett and Phillip Bryant.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Advent Christian Church in North Springfield, with the Rev. Floyd McIntyre, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in North Springfield.
Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Advent Christian Church, PO Box 21, North Springfield, VT 05150; or Springfield Family Center, 365 Summer St., Springfield, VT 05156.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.

STAMFORD -- Adelbert Adney “Joe” Benson Jr., 74, of Main Road, Stamford, died Saturday morning, Sept. 8, 2007, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, where he had been admitted earlier in the week.
He was born in Readsboro on Aug. 30, 1933, a son of the late Adelbert Adney Benson Sr. and Mary Agnes (Bosley) Benson. He attended schools in Readsboro and North Adams, Mass., including the Houghton School and Drury High School.
Mr. Benson was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Navy on the USS Worcester from October 1952 until his honorable discharge on June 30, 1954. He received the National Defense Service Medal.
Mr. Benson was first employed by the former Shapiro Chevrolet in North Adams. He also worked with Emerson Construction, Brightwater Paper, and the Bear Swamp Project. He was last employed by Patten Corporation until his retirement in 1998. Following his retirement, he worked at Berkshire Landings in the summer. During the winter months, he traveled with his wife Doris in their fifth wheel camper.
He was a member of the Stamford Community Church. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing traveling, and camping with his family. He was a member of numerous clubs. He was an assistant scoutmaster for the Boy Scout Troop in the Town of Florida and Stamford. He was a past master of the Unity Lodge of Masons 89 in Jacksonville. He was also a member of the Cairo Shriners of Rutland, the York Rite Bodies of Bennington Temple Chapter 8, the Bennington Council 8, and the Taft Commandery 8. He was a member of the Brattleboro Shrine Club and the Northeast Association of Shrine Motor Corps. He was also part of the Scottish Rite Bodies Lodge of Pittsfield.
Mr. Benson was also a member of the American Legion Post 29 in Readsboro and was a member of the Vermont Sheriffs Association.
Survivors include his wife, the former Doris Burdick, whom he married on Oct. 16, 1954 in the Florida Baptist Church; one son, Michael John Benson of Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren, Billy Jo Piantoni of North Adams, Mass., Joshua Piantoni of Adams, Mass., Sarah Hamm and Nathaniel Benson of St. George, Kansas; and Michaela Becerra of Manhattan, Kansas; six great grandchildren, Madison Benson, Christopher, Destiny, and Dakota Hamm, Jonathan Becerra and Kendra Piantoni; his former daughter in law- Arlene Benson of St. George, Kansas; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A daughter, Terry Jo Piantoni died in 1988. Three brothers and one sister are deceased including Francis, Lawrence, and Bert Benson and Eva Bushika.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Joe Benson will be held Saturday September 15, 2007 at 11 a.m., at the Stamford Community Church with the Rev. William Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Millard Cemetery in Stamford. There are no calling hours. Gary L. Martin 1948-2012 CHESHIRE Gary L. Martin, 63, died Friday March 23, 2012 at Mt. Greylock Extended Care. He was born in North Adams on May 19, 1948, son of Harold and Geraldine (Smith) Martin. He attended North Adams schools including McCann Technical High School. He was last employed by Greylock Auto Parts in Adams and had worked in the auto parts industry for most of his life. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing on computers. Survivors include his wife, the former Fay L. Burdick, whom he married on April 26, 1980 in the Florida Baptist Church; one daughter, Tara J. Fortin and her husband, Michael, of Hinsdale; five grandsons, Steven Martin, James Martin, Nicholas Fortin, Michael Fortin, and Matthew Fortin; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold R. Martin of Pittsfield and Neal Martin of North Adams; three sisters, Judith Griffin of Texas, Gerilyn Shaw of North Adams, and Sharon Sprague of Patterson, N.Y. He also leaves nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, James C. Martin, who died May 19, 1999; his grandson, Jacob Fortin; and his sister, Marilyn Finney. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Gary L. Joyce Anne (Burdick) Cote 65, of 69 Moores Road, Florida, Mass., died Thursday Jan. 5, 2006, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
She was born at home in the town of Florida on March 30, 1940, a daughter of the late R. Harold Burdick and Albina Mae (LaFountaine) Bur-dick. She attended schools in Florida and in North Adams, including Drury High School.
She was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a lifelong member of the Florida Baptist Church in Florid. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, drawing, cooking, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed gardening, especially turnip with her husband and family.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years Edward Louis Cote, whom she married Dec. 24, 1956, at the Florida Baptist Church; a daughter, Debra Joyce Sarkis of Rutherfordton, N.C.; five sons, Kenneth L. Cote of Salt Lake City, Utah, Russell L. Cote of Adams, Donald R. “Rene” Cote of North Adams, Lawrence R. Cote of Florida, and James A. Cote of Florida; 23 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia Brayman of Petersburg, N.Y., and Thelma Gomez of Monroe, Mass.
She was predeceased by two sons, Timothy Cote in 1963 and Leonard Cote in 2002, and two brothers, Gordon Burdick and Carl Burdick.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Joyce Anne (Burdick) Cote will take place Monday at 11 a.m. at the Florida Baptist Church in Florida, with the Rev. Roy Burdick officiating. Carolyn Faith Stacy was born in Greenfield, MA on December 15, 1925 to Carroll A. and Millicent (Hawley) Burnap. Her family lived in Shelburne Falls where she attended elementary school and Arms Academy. Carolyn spent her senior year living with her sister, Armenta, and her family in Groton, CT. She graduated from Fitch High School in 1944.
On June 14, 1947, she married Reuben L. Stacy, who preceded her in death on December 12, 2005. They raised their children in a wonderful neighborhood on Main Street. Reuben and Carolyn enjoyed dancing and were members of the Swinging Sweethearts square dance club. Carolyn was a member of the Rebekahs, a service fellowship of women (affiliated with the Odd Fellows) whose motto was Friendship, Love and Truth.
After raising her family, Carolyn cared for several children in the area and was fondly called, STACY, by Peter and Wendy Glawischnig. Many of ""her children"" continued to stay in contact with Carolyn through college, weddings and the births of their own children.
Carolyn is survived by her children: Diane (Roger Michaud), Carol, Karen (Stephen Parsons), and Barry (Linda) and grandchildren Gretchen, Tyler, Joseph, Courtney, Nicholas, Dana and Ryann. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Armenta Warner, Earl (Curly), Gaius, Millicent (Stroheker) and Lois.
Special thanks to ""Aunt"" Helen Burnap who was Carolyn's sister-in-law, best friend, guardian angel and keeper of appointments and driver for many years.
Thanks, also, to the caring and compassionate nurses, chaplain, and staff members of Hospice who were instrumental in allowing Carolyn her wish of remaining at home.
Visitation will be at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home (Shelburne Falls) on Thursday (July 2) from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. Burial will be on Monday (July 6) at 10 a.m. at the Arms Cemetery.
