SWANZEY -- Wallace O. "Red" Herrick, 64, of 225 Old Homestead Hwy., died May 17, 2010, at Cheshire-Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene after a brief illness.
He was born in Brattleboro, Vt., July 10, 1945, to Oliver W. and Florence M. (Morse) Herrick.
He grew up and attended schools in Brattleboro, Vt.
He was a 1963 graduate of Brattleboro Union High School where he played football all four years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and served with the New Hampshire National Guard.
He worked for many years at the former Book Press in Brattleboro, Vt., and part-time at Wilber Bros. Supermarket in Swanzey. He was a life member of VFW Post 1034 in Brattleboro, Vt., the American Legion and Yellow Ribbon Group in Brattleboro.
For many years he coached Little League baseball in Hinsdale and Swanzey and played and coached for many years in Greater Keene Men's' Softball Association.
He was a candlepin bowler for more than 40 years.
Family members include two children, Robert F. Herrick of Swanzey and Jill E. Herrick of Hinsdale; two brothers, George Herrick of Lynn, Mass. and Leonard Herrick of Putney, Vt.; three sisters, Mildred Chase of Brattleboro, Vt., Arlene Bernard of Greenfield, Mass. and Joyce Aldrich of Chesterfield; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased b y his wife of 35 years, Jean Herrick, in February 2005.
SERVICES: Family and friends are invited to call at Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court St., Keene, Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Bernard's Church, 185 Main Street, Keene, on Monday at 10:00 a.m.
Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene.

SHELBURNE - Walter L. ""Walt"" Rice, 69, of Frank Williams Rd., died Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at home.
Walt was born in Hawley, MA on July 19, 1946 the son of David and Lida (Maynard) Rice.
Prior to retirement in 2009 he was employed as the Northeast Regional Track Manager for the Boston & Maine Railroad. He worked for the railroad for 40 years, and after retirement he assumed the position of consultant for the high speed rail project for the Vermonter.
Walt was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, cutting wood, logging and sugaring. He was on the cover of The Making of Massachusetts Maple Syrup with his team of horses while collecting sap for sugaring. He was also in a feature article about the Mohawk Trail in the September 2014 edition of Yankee magazine.
Walt lived life to the fullest and was grateful every day for his family and friends. He enjoyed visiting with people and had a nickname for everyone! He looked forward to traveling to the Freyburg Fair in Maine every year.
In earlier years he coached Babe Ruth Baseball as well as playing softball with the VFW Post 8503 team and later played in Senior Ball.
Survivors beside his wife of 44 years the former Betty (Knower) Rice include his son Brian W. Rice and his partner Maggie Parsons of Buckland, two daughters; Beth Ann Rice and her fiancé Paul Curtis of Erving, Karen Lynn Doyle and her husband Padraic of Ashfield, three brothers; George Rice of Hawley, Roger Rice of Ashfield, David Rice of Charlemont, a sister Paula Rice of Charlemont, seven grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
There are no formal services.
Visiting hours will be Saturday, May 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 40 Church St., Shelburne Falls.
Following visiting hours, there will be a celebration of Walt's life from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Mohawk Park Restaurant, Mohawk Trail, Charlemont.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested memorial donations be made to the MSA Coalition and Research Fund, 9935-D Rea Rd. #212, Charlotte, NC 28277
The family would like to thank Dr Jacome and Dr. Iverson for their medical care and support given to Walt.

William H. Crochiere, Jr. of Coatesville William H. Crochiere, Jr., 86, of Coatesville, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Brandywine Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Claire B. Crochiere (nee O'Neill), with whom he had shared 48 years of marriage. Born in New Haven, Conn., he was the son of the late William H., Sr. and Frances Caley Crochiere. Mr. Crochiere was a graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he received his bachelor of science degree in engineering. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Mr. Crochiere was employed by Liftex, Inc. for 15 years where he served as a national sales manager, retiring in 1995. He had a life long love of antique cars. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, where he served as president of the Delaware and Chester County regions. Over the years, he collected cars manufactured by Rolls Royce, Packard and Cords. Later in life, he broadened his collection of cars to include convertibles from the 1960's. He was also a member of Plymouth and Atlantic City Country Clubs. Mr. Crochiere enjoyed spending family time at his summer home in Ocean City, New Jersey, and was an avid flying and boating enthusiast. He especially enjoyed working with anything mechanical. He is survived by his son, David C. Crochiere of Coatesville; daughter, Leslie A. Crochiere of Downingtown; and son, Brian C. Crochiere and his wife, Cindy of Bryn Mawr. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Campbell, William H. (Henry), III, and Holden; and by his companion, Dee McWilliams. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, at St. David's Episcopal Church, 763 South Valley Forge Road, Wayne. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown. Interment will be private.

Duane "Dewey" Crosier, 78, of Bremerton died Tuesday at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle.
He was born in St. Edward, Neb., to Ernest B. and Alice Maude (Newman) Crosier. He graduated from Silverdale High School in 1943 and went on to receive a degree from the University of Washington, where he participated in Chi Phi fraternity.
Mr. Crosier served in the U.S. Navy, achieving the rank of lieutenant commander. He also worked in human resources with RCA and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.
He volunteered with the Chicken Soup Brigade in Seattle and with the guardian ad litum program there. He was affiliated with the Presbyterian faith. His favorite pastimes were reading, walking and visiting with friends.
Mr. Crosier was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; his parents; and his grandson, Nicholas.
He is survived by two sons, Dave and his wife, Donna, of New Jersey and Steve of Seattle; a daughter, Lisa of Kenmore; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Jonathan, Serena, Raquel and Trevor; three brothers, Franklin Crosier and his wife, Naomi, of Seabeck, Vernon Crosier and his wife, Alice, of Bremerton and Bradford Crosier of Lynden, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton with a reception following, also at Lewis. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bremerton.
