          Virginia Julia Filiault, 78, formerly of 1 Cherokee Drive, died yesterday morning at Williamstown Commons, where she had resided since 1998.
          Born in North Adams on July 11, 1924, daughter of Edward and Julia Crosier LePage, she attended local schools, including the former Notre Dame School and its commercial school.
          Mrs. Filiault was employed by the Massachusetts Division of Employment and Training for five years, retiring in 1996. Earlier, she had worked for the Chamber of Commerce in North Adams. Both positions were through her employment at Elder Services of Berkshire County Inc.
          She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church and a former member of the Heptones singing group.
          She leaves four sons, Stephen Filiault of North Adams, Jeffrey Filiault of Adams, Michael Filiault of Cape Neddick, Maine, and Bruce Filiault of Seattle; four daughters, Joanne Montgomery, with whom she had made her home, Donna Blair of North Adams, Patricia Samoluk of Sandwich and Renee Conlon of Providence, R.I.; two brothers, William LePage of Williamstown and the state of Florida and Donald LePage of Brandon, Fla.; a sister, Mary Hock of North Adams, 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
          FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Virginia Julia LePage Filiault will be Monday, Feb. 3, at 9 at AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in Our Lady of Mercy Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday, today, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., 01247. Four brothers, three sisters, and a grandson, Bruce Montgomery, predeceased her.

          BENNINGTON - Byron C. LeRay, 84, died Sept. 20, 2007, at Vermont Veterans Home.
          He was born May 2, 1923, in Bennington, the son of Herman and Mary Ellen (Tinney) LeRay.
          He received his education in the Bennington schools.
          Mr. LeRay worked for Burgess Brothers Construction and later as a driver for Holmes Transportation for several years prior to his retirement.
          He was a U.S. Navy veteran during World War II, serving aboard the USS Washington and the USS YMS 383. Mr. LeRay was a recipient of a Silver Star and the Purple Heart for service to his country.
          He was a member of American Legion Post 13 in Bennington, serving as past commander and former service officer for Post 13 and past sergeant at arms for the American Legion, Department of Vermont. He was also a member of VFW Post 1332 in Bennington.
          Mr. LeRay was a local race car fan and helped sponsor several local drivers throughout the years.
          Survivors include his wife, Lucy (Pello) LeRay of Bennington; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
          He was predeceased by a sister, Josephine King; and two brothers, Herman and Robert LeRay.
          The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with a prayer and from All Faiths Chapel at Vermont Veterans Home at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Michael DeMasi, chaplain, officiating.
          Burial will take place in Park Lawn Cemetery.

          Death of Miss Jennie . LeRay.
          Miss Jennie Belle LeRay, 26, died about 2.30 o'clock this morning In the Memorial hospital, where she underwent an operation for the removal of a cancer Monday. She had been In a critical condition since the operation and It was known yesterday that she could not rally. Miss LeRay had been an active worker In the Baptist church and she had a wide circle of friends within and outside the church. She had been particularly active In the Sunday school work, having taught a class many years and her musical ability made her a valued member of the choir, of which she had been the lender some years. Her health had not been good the past year and she was treated In the Memorial hospital last winter. She was born In Brattleboro Oct. 23, 1883, and was a datigter of James R. and Louisa (Huntley) LeRay. She attended the district school and the academy and since her graduation she had remained at home with her parents.
          She was a member of Protective Grange. Besides her parents she leaves two brothers, Frank C. LeRay and Harry H. LeRay, and a sister, Mrs. Frank B. Richardson, all of Brattleboro. The funeral will be held In the Baptist church Sunday afternoon and the burial will be In Meeting House Hill cemetery.

          Funeral of Miss Jennie B, LeRay.
          The funeral of Miss Jennie B. .LeRay tooK place Sunday afternoon at 2 o clock in the Baptist church, following a prayer servlce-in the home-at 1 o'clock, and It was attended by a large number of relatives and friends, the entire seating capacity of the church being filled. Rev. F. S. Smith of East Haverhill, Mass., a former pastor, offered prayer In the home and gave a scripture reading and
          personal tribute In the church, followed by remarks and prayer by Rev. E. S. Harrison, the present minister. A male quartet consisting of Walter A. Gilbert. Arthur L. Maynard, -Alfred S. Thompson and Franklin H. Brasor sang "Come unto Me," "Lead, kindly light" and "One sweetly solemn thought" The young people of the church and the members of the choir, of which Miss LeRay was the leader, occupied pews together and the casket was covered with, many

          NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — John E. Lesure, 76, of Marshburn Drive, Bronson, Fla., formerly of North Adams, died Aug. 11, 2009, in Florida.
          Born in North Adams on Dec. 30, 1932, son of William E. Lesure Sr. and Alice Kegresse Lesure, he was a graduate of Drury High School. He lived in Northfield, Vt., for many years before moving to the Bronson area in 1991.
          Mr. Lesure was a member of the Vermont Funeral Directors Association.
          He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Chiefland, Fla. In Northfield, he was a member of Sorrell Maynard American Legion Post 63, a past member of the School Board and a past president of both the Rotary Club and the Northfield Country Club. He also was a member of AARP.
          He leaves a brother, Richard Lesure, Adams; nieces and nephews, grandnieces and -nephews and great-grandnieces and -nephews.
          He was predeceased by two brothers, Russell H. Lesure and William E. Lesure Jr.
          FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Lesure will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
          There will be no calling hours. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the William E. and Alice B.           Mr. Albert William Linendoll, 95, of Burnt Hills, NY, passed away peacefully at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center with his family by his side on Thursday, September 15, 2011. Albert was born in Argyle, NY, on July 16, 1916, the oldest child of the late Mabel and Douw Linendoll. He spent most of his childhood in Salem, NY, before joining the Civilian Conservation Corps, serving in upstate New York. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Forces in the Pacific Theater during WWII as an airplane mechanic-gunner, honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. He subsequently went to work at General Electric in Schenectady for 31 years as a mechanic in the large motor department. Besides his parents, Albert was predeceased by two wives, Mary Elizabeth Linendoll and Vera (Vicki) Linendoll. Also, he was the brother of the late Floyd Linendoll, Irene Gilbar and Mildred Stewart. He is survived by his children, Dianne and John Matarazzo of Burnt Hills, NY, John and Ann Linendoll of Apache Junction, AZ, and Timothy and Ann Soehl of Henderson, NC. Also, grandchildren, Jeff Humphrey, Bicki Derenzo, Steven Neveu, TJ and Sean Soehl, Chris and Greg Linendoll; and great-grandchildren, Samantha, Mattox, Donovan, Missy, Sierra, Chase, Aidyn, and Mia. Also by his brother, William (Katherine) Linendoll of Granville, NY; his sister, Orpha Crosier of Greenwich, NY and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Monday, September 19 at 11:30 a.m. at the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Rd (Rt 146A), Ballston Lake. There will be calling hours at the funeral home on Monday before the service from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Schenectady. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff at Kingsway Arms and to the Community Hospice of Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady. Arrangements are by the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home.

          POULTNEY - Mildred J. Stewart, age 90, formerly of Poultney, died March 4, 2009, at Hoosick Falls (N.Y.) Health Center.
          She was born Nov. 13, 1918, in Argyle, N.Y., the daughter of Douw and Mabel (Bussing) Linendoll.
          Mrs. Stewart was a member of Poultney United Methodist Church and the Women's Group; a lifetime member and past matron of Evergreen Chapter #63, Order of the Eastern Star; and an honorary member of Poultney Rescue Squad and Castleton Lions Club.
          She enjoyed gardening and a daily doughnut and ice cream.
          Survivors include two brothers, Albert Linendoll of Burnt Hills, N.Y., and William Linendoll, North Granville, N.Y.; a sister, Orpha Crosier of Greenwich, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
          She was predeceased by her husband; a brother, Floyd Linendoll, and a sister, Irene Gilbar.
          The memorial service, beginning with Fair Haven Chapter #70 O.E.S. fraternal service, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home in Poultney. The Rev. David Adams, pastor of Poultney United Methodist Church, will officiate.
          Memorial contributions may be made to Poultney Rescue Squad, PO Box 76, Poultney, VT 05764.
