Mr. and Mrs. O. R. Crosier of Shelburne Falls, Mass., have' been visiting Mrs. Crosier's sister, Mrs. W. E. Coombs.
Mr. and Mrs. O. R. Crosier of Main street were called to Brattleboro, Vt., on Saturday by the death of Mrs. Crosier's sister, Mrs. Nellie M. (Worden) Combs, who died at her home Friday, after a long period of ill health. Besides her husband, William E. Combs, she leaves one sister, Mrs. Olney R. Crosier of Shelburne Falls, two nieces, Mrs. Thomas Shaw of Shelburne Falls and Mrs. Lester Pratt of Jacksonville, Vt., also one nephew, Harold E. Crosier of Shelburne Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Combs resided in this village for a short time some years ago and had been frequent visitors here where they had many friends. Mr. and Mrs. O. R. Crosier, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shaw and Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Crosier attended the funeral in Brattleboro, Vt., on Monday.

BENNINGTON -- Mrs. Viola W. Knapp, 90, widow of Arnold Knapp, a resident of School Street, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in Charlemont, Mass., April 23, 1913 she was the daughter of the late Marcus G. and Ethel Mae (Flanders) Worden. She received her education in Hinsdale, N.H.
Mr. and Mrs. Knapp were married Oct. 9, 1937. Mr. Knapp died April 9, 1970.
In earlier years Mrs. Knapp was employed at the EZ Mills and later at Hoy Manufacturing until the time of her retirement.
Mrs. Knapp was a member of the Bennington Senior Citizens’ Group and a member of the Pownal Methodist Church.
She enjoyed sewing and playing cards. Her home and family were her main interests.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Kenneth G. Cone of Bennington; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. and April Knapp of Pownal, Duane M. and Linda James Knapp of Norton, Mass. and Richard K. and Linda M. Knapp of Bennington; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister and brother, Doris Hallock and Homer C. Worden both of Hinsdale, N.H.; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Mrs. Knapp was pre deceased by a brother, Richard Worden.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, Friday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gaylord Campbell, pastor of the Pownal United Methodist Church officiating.
Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
All members of the Putnam Hose Fire Co. are requested to meet at the funeral home thursday at 6:45 p.m.
Burial will take place in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery in Hinsdale, N.H. on Saturday, Aug. 2 at 10 a.m.
Contributions in memory of Mrs. Knapp may be made to either the Bennington Rescue Squad or the Bennington Senior Citizens Group through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
All members of the Pownal Valley Fire Department East Company and Ladies Auxiliary are requested to meet at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home at 7:15 p.m. at 628 Main St. Thursday.

She is survived by 2 sons, Stanley (and Cheryl) Strader, Alamogordo, NM and Joel E. (and Anna) Strader, Galesburg, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother.
She was a homemaker. She also worked at the former Andes Candies for 17 years. She had lived in Galesburg since 1940. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Galesburg, where she had served as a deaconess and was active in various offices and church circles.
Funeral will be 10 AM Monday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Greg Fitch will officiate. Visitation will be 9 to 10 AM Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials can be made to First Christian Church.

Rena Crosier, 94, of Western Turnpike, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. Born in Middleburgh in 1914, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Vera Zeh Young. She was a graduate of Schoharie High School and attended Russell Sage College where she received her degree in education. She married her husband, Arthur Crosier on November 15, 1942. Mr. Crosier passed away on January 5, 1957. Rena retired as a fifth grade teacher from the Duanesburg School system in 1974. She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, Duanesburg. Rena enjoyed quilting, sewing, shopping and was an avid traveler and loved to cook and spending time in her garden. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon (Bruce) Smith of Duanesburg; granddaughter, Lindsey Smith of Duanesburg; grandson, Daniel (Jayne) Smith of Livingston Manor and granddaughter, Denise (Michael) Will of Roscoe, NY and two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Dylan Smith of Livingston Manor, NY. Rena was also predeceased by her daughter, Cheryl Crosier, and two sisters, Dorothy Consiglio and Hilda Zahielski. Mr. Crosier, who is the brother of Frederick M. Crosier of 23 Holbrook St., attended Mark 'Hopkins School ' and played football at Drury High School. He continued 'his education .in Columbia Military Academy, Columbia', Tenn., and at William " Mary College where he starred on the gridiron. .He was born In Pownal, Vt., the son of the late Marshall and Mary. (Lacey) Crosier, and moved to this city with his family as a boy. He left North.Adams when he was in his mid-twenties. The Brockton real estate dealer was Property Management Broker for the Veterans Administration in the Brockton area. Survivors, besides his brother here, are his wife, the former Muriel Zimmerman; a daughter, Mrs. Henry W. Newell Jr. of Brockton and another brother, Howard of Abington. Mr. Crosier's body is at the Delano Funeral Home, Brockton, where calling hours are until 4 o'clock this afternoon and from 7 to 9 this evening. In lieu of flowers,'members of the family have requested donations to the Heart Fund. CROSIER BROCKTON, Mass. -- Everett E. Crosier, 57, driving force behind obtaining the VA Hospital icre, who was a native of Pownal, Vt, collapsed in his real estate office here and died Oct. 12 shortly afler 2 p.m. Death was due to a coronary attack. Mr. Crosier had been a resident of Brockton for 37 yeors. After coming to Brockton, he became associated with a life insurance company as general field clerk an was promoted to an inspector's position, covering the New England territory. Later he was made supervision of the agents' daily accounting plan and then elevated to agency supervisor. Born in Pownal, he was the son of the late Marshall A. and Mary E. Lacy Crosier. He was educated in North Adams schools before going to Columbia Military Col lege in Tennessee. He attended William and Mary College and was a football player of much prowess. Mr. Crosier was the motivating force behind the committee that succeeded in bringing the hospital here and spent a great deal of time and money pulling the plan across. He was presented a plaque in 1951 by Brockton Chapter, DAV at a testimonial dinner for his work. Congressman James A. Burke said: "I was shocked to hear of the untimely death of Everett E. Crosier. I had lunch with him last Thursday at which lime we discussed many of the problems confronting the city of Brockton. His untiring efforts on behalf of all the people of Brockton over the year were many. Brockton has lost a dear and devoted friend. Mr. Crosier is survivied by his wife, Muriel Z.; a daughter, Mrs Henry H. (Nancy Hope) Newell Jr of Brookline; a grandson; two brothers, Howard of Brockton and Frederick of .Norlh Adams. Funeral services were held Brockton and interment was in that city.

Kenneth N. Croshier, 84, employed by Fargo Manufacturing Co. Inc., Poughkeepsle, for 40 years,, died Wednesday at Vassar Brothers Hospital, City Of Poughkeepsie, after a short illness. ' Mr. Croshier, who lived in the Town of Poughkeepsle, began working with the company in 1930 when it was located in a barn on North Clinton Street He was involved in product design and helped garner the company three Army and Navy awards for the production of munition primers and croshier aircraft parts during World War 11 He eventually became a department manager and retired May 17, 1970. In 1950 he helped found the Old Timers Club and was elected its first vice president He was a former member of the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club, a charter member of the Dutchess County Pistol Association and a member of the Crestwood Heights Taxpayers Association. Mr. Croshier was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Town of Poughkeepsie. He was born in Chatham, N.J., Dec. 8, 1902, to Ralph and Mary Ann Schmidt Croshier. He attended Wappingers Falls schools. In 1926, in Wappingers Falls, he married the former Catherine Belding, who died in 1971. Mr. Croshier is survived by a son, Joseph E. Croshier, of Poughkeepsie; a daughter, Kathleen Turner of Poughkeepsie; a sister, Madeline Croshier of Wappingers Falls; seven grandchildren, two great - grandchildrengrandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Parmele Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie . The funeral will'be Saturday at 9.45 a.m. at the funeral home - Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Town of Poughkeepsie. Memorial donations may be made to Dutchess Outreach, 70 S.
