JOHN ARCHIE CROSIER - The practical everyday history and proceedings of the district court of Hampshire County is the field of activity in which Mr. Crosier has been engaged as clerk since 1904, and during which period he has been a witness of the many remarkable changes that have taken place in the legal personnel and procedure. The most familiar leading figure in this long-established court, and one of the most erudite men in the profession as regards the local judicial customs and usages, Mr. Crosier is an official held in regard and honor in county and State by his colleagues and by the public in general. Industry, patriotism, and probity in all their business and social affairs have marked the generations of his family, whose early scions had much to do with establishing and with preserving the national fabric.

Matron of honor was Lisa Sweet. Bridesmaids were Erin Cavanaugh, sister of the groom,
and Joanne Willsey. Best man Was Terence Cavanaugh, brother of the groom; ushers were Richard Smith, brother of the bride, and Brian Cange. Ring bearer was Justin Crosier, son of the bride.
Lisa Cavanaugh is a graduate of Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School and the. College of
St. Rose. She is office manager for the Albany County Purchasing Department. .
Brian Cavanaugh is a graduate of Shaker High School and attends Hudson Valley Community College. He is a computer operator for the New York State Assembly.
After a reception at the S.W. Pitts Banquet Hall in Latham and a wedding trip to Le
Chateau Frontenac, in Quebec, the Cavahaughs returned to their new home in Latham.

EAST PEORIA - Margaret Colleen "Marge" King, 80, of East Peoria, formerly of Peoria, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born July 13, 1929, in Monmouth, Ill., to Curtis and Elizabeth Crosier Smith. She married Paul R. King on June 11, 1949, in Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are her four children, Peggy King and Gary (Jill) King of Peoria, Susan McCormick of rural Washburn and Jennifer King of Livingston, Mont.; five grandchildren, Colleen, Timothy and Marshall King and Kristi McCormick of Peoria and Danielle McCormick of Rantoul, Ill.; her sister, Joyce (Ted) Carter of Birmingham, Ala.; a brother, Paul Hull of Cuba, Ill.; and the much-adored Yorkshire terrier, BitZ Boy.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her stepfather, Leland Hull; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bruce and Claudia Hull of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Leonard and Muriel Hull of Dayton, Ohio; and her beloved Shetland sheep dogs, Anny and Waggers.
Marge was a 1947 graduate of Woodruff High School in Peoria and had attended Bradley University.
Deeply involved in genealogy, she was on the board of directors of the Peoria County Genealogical Society for many years, serving as librarian much of the time. Three times, she was awarded the organization's President's Award for distinguished service. She was also a member of the New England Women, the Colonial Dames, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Peoria Women's Club.
An avid sports fan, she was a die-hard Chicago White Sox fan, a season ticket holder for Bradley basketball games for many seasons and a dedicated harness race fan. She was a former member of the Peoria Women's Golf League, Timberlake Country Club and the Peoria Boat Club.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 18, 2010, from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. Services, conducted by her brother-in-law, Ted Carter, a former missionary to Japan, and Monsignor William Watson of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peoria Heights, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at The Wilton Mortuary. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
Marge's family wishes to thank all the dedicated nurses in the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center intensive-care unit who took such wonderful care of her over the past three weeks.

Henry K. Crosier 54, a wideley known resident of this city, died yesterday morning at his home, 303 North Fourth Avenue. He had been ill a week with pneumonia. Mr. Crosier was employed as a brakeman by the Boston and Maine Rairoad. Mr Crosier son of Mrs. Martha Crosier and the late Daniel Crosier, is survived by his mother, with whom he resided and a son and a daughter living in Connecticut.

Dawson Wells Burt departed this life July 31, 2002 at his home in Midway.
He entered this life June 27, 1922 in North Brookfield, Massachusetts born to Frederick Dawson and Hazel Wells Burt. After early years in Woronoco, they moved to Spring-field where he graduated from Technical High School. Music became a most important part of his life and he entertained often in his home town and played for church services for the Civilian Conservation Corps. At the start of World War II, he enlisted in the navy, assigned to the Marines in the Medical Corps. Upon discharge, he married Muriel Winifred Smith in Hope Congregational Church, Springfield. With his bachelor's degree from Ithaca College, New York, he taught in Connecticut; then enrolled in the University of Michigan Graduate School where he earned his Master's degree. He then taught in the public schools in Michigan and New York.
In February, 1969, the family was baptized members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in 1978 moved to Midway, Utah. He taught in Park City, then completed his teaching career in 1987 in the Granite School District. He and Muriel were called to serve in the Raleigh, North Carolina and Rapid City, South Dakota Missions. Until health forced retirement, he served in the Mt. Timpanogos and Provo Temples as an ordinance worker. He served faithfully in many callings in the Church.
Dawson is survived by his wife Muriel of 55 years; his only daughter Virginia (Kerry) Ellertson and granddaughter Aubrey Ellertson, all of Midway, and brother Raymond Everett Burt of Tallahassee, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 3, 2002 at the Midway 1st Ward building, 200 South 250 East in Midway. A viewing will be held at the church Friday, August 2nd from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, one hour prior to services where friends and family may call. Interment will follow at Midway Cemetery. Arrangements by SereniCare, Funeral Directors.

About Muriel Winifred Smith Burt:
Muriel Winifred Smith Burt departed this life October 8, 2006 at her home in Midway, Utah. She endured to the end after a heart attack and cancer diagnosis. She entered this life June 16, 1924 in Springfield, Massachusetts, the only child of Earl Fuller and Amy Crosier Smith. Growing up in West Springfield, MA, she graduated from high school there; entered and graduated from Boston University College of Practical Arts and Letters. During her working years she filled positions as both a medical and legal secretary. On September 13, 1947 she married Dawson Wells Burt in the Hope Congregational Church in Springfield, MA. Their only child, Virginia Diane, was born in Springfield in 1953. An important event occurred in 1969 when after much soul searching they and their daughter were baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints. The following year they made their first trip to Utah and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1978 the family moved to Utah. Upon retirement in 1987, Dawson and Muriel were called to serve in the North Carolina Raleigh Mission of the church. Later they served in the North Dakota Rapid City Mission. Muriel served in Mt. Timpanogos and Provo Temples as an ordinance worker with her husband until his health forced their retirement from this assignment. In 2004 Muriel was called to serve in the Missouri St. Louis Mission with Sister Frances V. Smith. Muriel was a member of the Wasatch Literary Society and Daughters of the American Revolution. In Church assignments she served as Ward Relief Society president and Stake Relief Society counselor while living in New York State. She enjoyed people, traveling, theater, reading and flowers. She never tired of viewing sunsets, mountains and skies. Her testimony of the Gospel was firm and she delighted in learning. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She leaves her daughter Virginia Diane Ellertson (Kerry) and a granddaughter Aubrey Muriel Shelton (Justin) and two great- grandsons Brayden Parker and Quintin Maddox Shelton. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at the Midway Stake Center, 165 North Center Street in Midway, Utah. A viewing will be held from 6 - 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 and one hour prior to services on Thursday where friends and family may call. Interment will follow at Midway Cemetery. David Michael Crosier, age 81, of Troy, Ohio, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2010 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio after a short illness. He was born on July 22, 1929 in Greenfield, Massachusetts to the late Robin Edwin and Cora (Davenport) Crosier. He married Carol May (Spencer) Crosier and she preceded him in death in 1984.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna May Crosier of Troy; son, D. Michael Crosier of Montville, Connecticut; two brothers, Francis Crosier of Colrain, Massachusetts and Douglas Crosier of Westhaven, Connecticut; two grandchildren, David Manuel Crosier and Danielle Marie Crosier; and three great-grandchildren: Lucas, Paul and Dustin.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Crosier was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Ralph and one sister, Hazel.
He was a US Army Veteran.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with Pastor Shawn Hess of Grace Baptist Church, Troy officiating. Interment will take place in West Branch Cemetery, Colrain, Massachusetts. Friends may call from 9:30-11:00AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
