          CHESHIRE -- Mrs. Phyllis S. Poplaski, 65, of 64 Lake Shore Drive died Sunday at Berkshire Medical
          Center.
          Born in Adams on July 4, 1932, daughter of the late Stella Pytko Rogalski, she attended schools in
          Adams. She worked at various mills in Adams and at the Adams Rest Home as an nurse's aide for
          14 years, retiring in 1987. She also assisted with the operation of Poplaski Lumber and Poplaski
          Potato Farm, both in Cheshire.
          Mrs. Poplaski was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. She enjoyed
          her grandchildren and crocheting.
          Her husband, Stanley P. Poplaski, whom she married July 16, 1949, died April 23, 1992.
          She leaves six sons, James S. Poplaski, David D. Poplaski, John P. Poplaski and Jerry P. Poplaski,
          all of Cheshire, Anthony J. Poplaski of Tennessee and Stanley P. Poplaski Jr. of Agawam; three
          daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth A. King and Ms. Donna M. Smith, both of Cheshire, and Mrs. Irene
          "Penny" Jefferson of Pittsfield; a brother, Alexander Rogalski Jr. of Adams; 19 grandchildren; and
          four great-grandchildren.
          FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the
          DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary of the
          Assumption Church, celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Begley, pastor. Burial will follow in Cheshire
          Cemetery. Calling hours at Dery-Cheshire Funeral Home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu
          of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department or the St.
          Mary of the Assumption Church, both in care of the funeral home. A sister, Mrs. Alexandria
          "Sandy" Brown of Adams, died in May 1996.

          Born in Adams on Dec. 21, 1926, a daughter of Arthur and Regina Charbonneau Racine, she attended Adams schools.
          Mrs. Swistak worked for Adams Laundry and Dry Cleaning Co. for many years, until retiring. She also assisted her husband in the operation of Swistak's Bar & Lounge in Cheshire for many years.
          She had been a communicant of the former Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Parish and had enjoyed sewing as a hobby.
          She and her husband, John J. Swistak, were married on Oct. 25, 1948.
          Besides her husband of 63 years, she leaves a son, John J. Swistak III and his wife, Donna, of Adams; a brother, Richard Racine and his wife, Barbara, of Adams; two sisters, Elizabeth Crosier and her husband, Neal, of North Adams, and Virginia Kruszyna and her husband, Ronald, of Cheshire; three grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
          FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mrs. Swistak will be held on Tuesday, June 5, at 10:30 from Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery.
          Calling hours will be Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus School through the funeral home.

          Mary R. Lazzeri, 89, Boston Store employee
          NORTH ADAMS -- Mary Rose Lazzeri, 89, of Holy Family Terrace, 611 State Road, died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she had been admitted Tuesday.
          Born in North Adams on April 12, 1910, daughter of Louis and Rena Papavero Rancatti, she attended North Adams schools, including Drury High School.
          In her younger years, she was employed by the former Arnold Print Works and, before her retirement in 1970, she was employed by the former Boston Store for 15 years.
          Mrs. Lazzeri was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a former communicant of St. John Bosco Church of Stamford, Vt. She was a member and past president of the Trentino Society of North Adams, member and past president of the NABOB Club of The Boston Store and a member of the North Adams Lodge Sons of Italy. She was a former member and past president of the St. Ann's Society of St. John Bosco Church of Stamford, Vt.
          Her husband, Leo Joseph Lazzeri, whom she married Aug. 30, 1930, in St. Anthony of Padua Church, North Adams, died Sept. 6, 1996.
          He leaves a sister, Mrs. Lena Kerr of North Adams; two brothers, Peter Rancatti and Charles Rancatti, both of North Adams; two granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren. A daughter, Dolores Lazzeri Crosier, died July 20, 1970.
          FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Mary Rose Rancatti Lazzeri, 89, of 611 State Road, North Adams, are Friday, July 2, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, North Adams. Burial in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, July 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams.           " Mrs. Edith R. Crosier, 45, wife of Robert M. Crosier of Charlotte, N.C., died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred E. Rendle of Great Bend, Monday evening at 8. Shed had been in poor health for more than three years and about a year ago was a patient at the House of the Good Samaritan for three and one-half months. After leaving the hospital she went to the home of her parents where she had since been staying.
          Funeral services will be held from the Great Bend home, Thursday morning at 10:30. Rev. Ray S. Cody, pastor of the Woolworth Memorial Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery, Great Bend.
          Mrs. Crosier is survived by her husband and her parents: one sister, Mrs. James D. (Ruth) McDonald, Ilion; and two brothers, Floyd and Edward Rendle, both of Great Bend.
          She was born in Watertown, April 13, 1902, her parents having lived at 2 Waite Avenue at the time. When she was 18 months old the family moved to Great Bend where she was educated in the Great Bend elementary schools and the Black River High School. She was married to Mr. Crosier at the home of her parents, Feb. 1, 1922. Mr. Crosier was employed in Watertown. The couple began their married life in Watertown and later moved to Utica, Schenectady and Syracuse. Mr. Crosier is employed by the World Broadcasting Company and is at present stationed at Charlotte, N.C. Mrs. Crosier came to the home of her parents about a year ago because of her health."

          Stanley P. Herzig (1932 - 2015)
          Stanley P. Herzig, 83, of 159 Adamsville Road, Colrain, died Friday, July 24 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by his loving family.
          He was born in Greenfield, April 20, 1932, the son of Wilbert and Beatrice (Barnes) Herzig.
          Stanley was a 1950 graduate of Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls.
          He was a U.S. Navy veteran, enlisting in 1951 until honorable discharge in 1955.
          He married the former Pauline Reynold on May 22, 1955. In 1962 they purchased their farm, which became known as the West Branch Farm, in Colrain.
          He spent his life doing what he loved, running his dairy farm with his wife and eventually with his son Kenneth.
          Stanley loved his family especially his 9 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 8 great-granddaughters and 4 great-grandsons.
          He enjoyed watching his sons and daughter play sports in high school and later his grandchildren. He was also a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
          His wife Pauline predeceased him on June 24, 2006.
          Survivors include one daughter Rebecca (Donald) Sargent of Frederick, Maryland; 3 sons Michael (Debbie) of Colrain, Ronald (Vickie) of Erving, Kenneth (Rita) of Colrain; his sister Sally Streeter of Nevada; granddaughters Tara Herzig, Karla Herzig Doherty, Lindsey Donahue, Shannon Herzig, Amber Allen, Kaitlin Corliss, Jillian Wimmelman, Lizzie Herzig, Sarah Herzig; grandsons Benjamin Sargent, Daniel Sargent, and 8 great-granddaughters and 4 great-grandsons.
          He was predeceased by his brother Donald and sisters June and Gail.
          A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 1, at 11 a.m. at West Branch Cemetery in Colrain.
          There are no calling hours.
          It is suggested donations be made to Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society, 163 Montague Rd., Leverett, MA 01054.
          Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home in Shelburne Falls is in charge of arrangements
