          Milton Powers, who died at Halifax Jan. 14, was the youngest son of Jonathan and Elizabeth Powers. He was born In Orange, Vt.,Feb. 18, 1831. His mother died when he was two years and a half old. He was brought up by his grandfather and a maiden aunt who lived In Plttsford, Vt., until he was 10 or 12 years old. He then started
          in the world for himself. He first found employment in a meat market in Pittsfield, Mass., where he worked several years. He then worked for L. P. Mowry In the meat business at Wlliiamstown, Mass., for six years and a half, when he enlisted as a private In the 11th regiment,
          United States infantry regulars, and soon rose to the rank of orderly sergeant. He was orderly sergeant three years. After that he was clerk for the sutler one year. In 1804 he married Ellen D. Mowry, daughter of his former employer at Williamstown, Mass. In 1800 they moved to Whitingham and 17 years ago moved to this town. He was one of the charter members of Charles P. Clark Post, G. A. R.,
          of which organization he was an active member. He was always active in politics and town business, a man of pronounced opinions, a man who had the courage to express and defend his convictions. He was one whose councils will be greatly missed. He was an active member of the Methodist church and society. He leaves a widow and two children, Martha A., wife of Orvil Crosier of Rutland,
          Vt., and Avery K., of this town; also three brothers, Edwin of Oregon, William of South Dakota, Daniel of Plttsfield, Mass., and one sister, Adelaide of Rutland

          David Paul Gilbert, age 47, died unexpectedly on February 28, 2015 in Plymouth. He was born on February 17, 1968, the son of Paula (Gilbert) Mulrey and Colin Gilbert. He was educated in Plymouth and was a 1987 graduate of Plymouth-Carver High School. He attended Cape Cod Community College as well as Quincy College. Following his high school graduation, David entered the US Air Force. He served during Desert Shield/Storm and worked as a fuel supply specialist, serving over 5 years. He was also stationed in Korea for a year during his years of service. David was an avid train enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling and also worked as an over-the-road truck driver for several years. For most of his life David worked as a bicycle Mechanic at Gilly's Cycling and Adventures, Repair and More. His love for cycling allowed him to volunteer for numerous bicycle organizations such as Best Buddies and the Pan Mass Challenge. Over the years he was a three time participant in the Memorial Ride, cycling from from NYC to Roanoke, VA. David leaves his wife of 16 years Jean (Dittrich) Gilbert of Plymouth, his mother Paula of Plymouth, his father Colin and his step-mother Judy of Milbrook, AL. David was the loving father of Dalyn Dittrich of Marlboro, Nora Gilbert of Plymouth and grandfather to Dalyn's son Connor Walsh. He was the beloved brother of Kimberly Farrar Boudreaux, and her husband Chris of St. Francisville, LA and Tiffany Farrar Gilbert and her wife Amy of Middleboro. He leaves his cherished Aunt Pam and Uncle George Farrar of Plymouth. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth. The funeral will take place on Friday morning at the Cartmell Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter's Church on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.           Mary Y. Crosier Gerry, 75, of 1 Gillette Ave., Westfield, a former resident of Dalton, died Saturday at Noble Hospital in Northampton.
          Born in Bellows Falls, Vt., on June 25, 1929, daughter of Winfield and Alice Davis Murchie, she lived in Dalton before moving to Westfield 48 years ago.
          A retired waitress, Mrs. Gerry had worked for many restaurants, including Vincents, Valles, Bickford's, the Storrowton Tavern and the Shine Inn.
          She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Westfield and enjoyed animals.
          She leaves three sons, David B. Crosier of Westboro, Bruce E. Crosier of Shrewsbury and Richard M. Crosier of Westfield; two daughters, Donna M. Grimsley and Susan D. Crosier, both of Westfield; a brother John Murchie of Westfield; two sisters, Natalie Martelle of Clarksburg and Nancy Bissaillon of Westfield; 19 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three daughters, Beverly Crosier, Diane Crosier and Sandra Crosier, all in 1955, and by two sons, Hubert Crosier in 1999 and Michael Crosier in 1955.
          FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mary Y. Crosier Gerry, who died Dec. 11, 2004, will be Wednesday at 8:15 from FIRTION-ADAMS FUNERAL HOME, 76 Broad St., with a Mass at 9:15 in St. Mary's Church.
          Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dalton. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the MSPCA, 171 Union St., Springfield, MA 01105.
          She was also predeceased by a brother, Douglas Murchie, in 1989.

          Joe was a 1951 graduate of Greenfield High School. He went on to graduate from Hampden College of Pharmacy in Willimantic, MA.
          Joe was a US Army Veteran from 1955-1957 serving as a pharmacist.
          He was a pharmacist for 58 years. While in college he was employed by Fiske & Strecker in Greenfield. After receiving his college degree he worked for Hawley Pharmacy in Turners Falls and for Kaiser Permante and Walgreen's in Amherst.
          Joe was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace. He enjoyed NASCAR and was an avid football fan.
          He is survived by his wife of almost 57 years the former Jane Newcomb, whom he married on September 24, 1956, his seven children, Kathleen (Paul) Hermes of Guilford, CT, John (Joann ) Drumgool of Erving, MA, Ann Butynski of Greenfield, MA, Thomas (Deb) Drumgool of Turners Falls, MA, Robert (Cynthia) Drumgool of Deerfield, MA, Paula (Ken) Thane of Halifax, VT, Sharon Drumgool (Huckle May) of Shutesbury, MA and his grandchildren Daniel (Karlee) Drumgool of Lake Pleasant, MA, Nicholas Drumgool of Charlemont, MA., Jay Butynski of Greenfield, MA, Emma Butynski of Bernardston, MA, Jessica Hermes and Sam Hermes of Guilford, VT, Timothy Drumgool and Erik Drumgool of Deerfield, MA and Kayla Drumgool of Erving, MA. He also leaves a son-in-law Richard Butynski of Millers Falls, MA, two brothers Owen Drumgool of Williams, AZ and James Drumgool of Cincinnati, OH and several nieces and nephews.
          Joe was predeceased by two sisters, Lorraine Clough and Mary Wiles and by a brother Bernard Drumgool.
          Funeral services will be Friday 8-30-13 at 9:15am from the Kostanski Funeral Home 1 Kostanski Square Turners Falls followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh St.,Turners Falls with the Rev. Stanley J. Aksamit officiating. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in Greenfield.
          Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.

          NORTHFIELD - Michael N. Crochier, 67 of Warwick Rd. Northfield died Saturday evening (2-06-2016) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, Greenfield, MA. He was born August 3, 1948 in Montague, MA the son of Napoleon and Janet (Wonsey) Crochier. Michael served proudly during the Viet Nam War in the U.S. Army, receiving the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with Valour.
          He was first married to the former Laima Januskevicius, then to the former Patricia Olanyk. On July 2, 1977 he met Kathleen Crochier and they married on February 2, 1988 at Crestwood in Winchester, NH. Early in life he lived in Pinelake, GA for two years returning to this area in November 1979.
          He worked as a machinist at Strathmore Paper Mill and several other locations. After one of his many motorcycle accidents left him unable to continue that occupation he became a salesman and mechanic for Pioneer Harley Davidson in Bernardston, MA. In 1989 he purchased Pizza Etc. in Bernardston which he and his wife owned until 2002. They then acquired the The Notch Restaurant in Northfield. He was past president of the Ramblers Motorcycle Club, and lifetime member of the Montague Elks, serving as Exalted Ruler from 2001-2002. He was a lifetime member of the Northfield VFW, and did extensive volunteer work at the VA Hospital in Leeds, MA. His passions were first his son, then his motorcycle, taking several trips with his best friends Bernie Tatro, and John McCarthy, the greatest was the Dragons tail ride in 2007. He loved to play golf and was a club member at Oak Ridge Golf Course and Crumpin Fox Country Club.
          He is survived by his wife the former Kathleen Newton, and his son Michael Brunner and his wife Amy of Lexington, SC. and brothers: Gerald and his wife Teresa of Ardmore, OK. Robert and his companion Sandy of Carver, MA. Peter and his wife Sue of Northfield, MA. Paul of Westfield, MA. and Randy and his wife Alison of Gill, MA. and his sisters: Maryanne Gifford and her husband Michael of Wendell, MA. and Paula Crochier of Greenfield, MA. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Douglas, Grace, Glory, Jordan, and Mercy Brunner. Two aunts and several nieces and nephews.
          There will be a Catholic prayer service on Wednesday (2-10-2016) at Kidder Funeral Home, 1 Parker Ave., Northfield, MA. at 7 p.m. The Rev. Thomas Lisowski, Pastor of St. Patrick's Church in Northfield will officiate, followed by full military honors.
          Calling hours will be Wednesday afternoon (2-10-2016) 4 p.m.. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial at Arlington National Cemetery will be at a later date.
          Donations in his memory may be made to Northfield EMS, c/o Mark Fortier, 579 Mt. Hermon Station Rd. Northfield, MA 01360.
