PITTSFIELD -- Claudine Marie Stutz, 96, of 89 South St., Berkshire Place, died there Wednesday.
Born in Ashfield on Jan. 20, 1911, daughter of Claude D. and Flora Crosier Hinckley, she was a 1928 graduate of Pittsfield High School and attended the former Henry W. Bishop School of Nursing. She lived in Lee from 1952 until moving to Centerville in 1977. She returned to this area to live at Devonshire Estates in Lenox in 1997 and had been a resident of Berkshire Place since 2005.
A licensed practical nurse, Mrs. Stutz was employed by the former Edgecombe Nursing Home in Lenox and was a private-duty nurse for area families.
She was active in the Christian education programs at the former Trinity Methodist Church in Pittsfield and at Hope Church in Lenox. She was a former Girl Scout Leader in Pittsfield and enjoyed reading the Bible, gardening, bird watching and poetry. She was a talented storyteller.
Her husband, Herbert H. Stutz, whom she married June 30, 1931, died in April 1992.
She leaves four daughters, Carole Wenger of Newtown, Pa.; Claudia Wells of Lenox, Muriel Brown of Centerville and Jane Wells of West Brookfield; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A private family memorial service will be conducted for Claudine Marie Stutz, who died Wednesday, June 20, 2007. Her son-in-law, Dr. Robert E. Wenger, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences and Professor of History at Philadelphia Biblical University, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Luke's Cemetery in Lanesboro at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240. Mrs. Stutz is survived by her beloved grandchildren Carla Wenger Habel, Alan, David and Eric Wenger, Daren Wells, Heather Wells Heim, Dia Brown Lind, Wendy Brown Karabensch, Janie Brown Booth, Timothy Brown, Heidi Wells Goyette, and Peter and Todd Wells. She was predeceased by a grandson, Geoffrey Wells, and by a great-grandson, Camden Wells. She is also survived by her sons-in-law, Robert E. Wenger, Robert A. Wells, Daniel E. Brown and G. David Wells. Mrs. Stutz was predeceased by her brothers, Lawrence, Claude and Floyd Hinckley, and by her sister, Harriet Hinckley Sinacori. Mrs. Stutz was a lifelong learner and dedicated to her family

ALVIN E. CROSIER
Alvin E. Crosier, 70, overseer at the City Mission, Hamilton street, died suddenly Friday morning of a heart attack at his camp at Ballston lake. The funeral service was conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in Bond parlors, Beltevue, conducted by Rev. R. W. Chesnut of the Duanesburgh Church. Burial was in Duanesburgh.
Mr. Crosier was born in South Scribe, Vt., and lived a number of vears in Duanesburgh. He had been employed at the City Mission a short "time before his illness.
He is survived by his wife, Susan B. Disbrow, three sons, Alvin Crosier of Saratoga, Edward of this city, and William, of Duanesburgh, a daughter, Mrs. Emma Tullock of Duanesburgh, a brother, Ernest Crosier of this city, two step daughters, Mrs. Henry Gilbert of Ballston Lake and Mrs. Bessie Pierce of this city and five grandchildren.

Dorothy Mae Moon Miner, 90, of Village East, 546 Mohawk Trail, died yesterday at home.
Born in Stephentown, N.Y., on April 27, 1915, daughter of John H. and Eunice White Hoffman, she attended schools there.
Mrs. Miner was a homemaker.
She lived in Hancock for several years before moving to North Adams in 1956.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed nature and her flower gardens.
Her first husband, Roy Moon, died in July 1945.
Her husband, Avery Miner, died in 1976.
She leaves four daughters, Thelma Eunice Moon LaPier, of Hancock, Gloria J. Moon Sprague of North Adams, and twin daughters, Kathleen G. Miner Langnickel of Adams and Constance L. Miner McKenzie of New Lebanon, N.Y.; a son, Carl D. Moon Sr. of Readsboro, Vt.; a sister, Ruth Atwater of Stephentown, N.Y.; a brother, William Hoffman of Cherry Plain, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Two other daughters, Joyce Morin and infant Patricia Moon, died Sept. 17, 1989 and in 1938, respectively.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Dorothy Mae Moon Miner will be conducted Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at 11 at First Baptist Church in North Adams by the Rev. Joseph DeCosta, pastor.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Donations may be made to First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
Survivors include a son-in-law, Kenneth Sprague. A grandson, Michael Morin, died in 1999. A sister and brother, Florence Crosier and John Hoffman are deceased. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

DALTON -- Wesley Wallace Crosier, 79, formerly of Curtis Manor, died Friday at Craneville Place, where he had resided since July 8.
Born in Pittsfield on May 17, 1920, son of Roland and Clara Alden Crosier, he graduated from the former Dalton High School.
Mr. Crosier was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving from April 29, 1942, until being honorably discharged on May 22, 1946. He was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Crosier was employed at General Electric from 1951 to 1957. He had been a security guard for the Bureau of Engraving in Dalton from Sept. 9, 1957, until Sept. 1, 1972. Until his retirement on Dec. 31, 1983, Mr. Crosier was a security guard for Crane & Co. in Dalton.
He enjoyed antique cars and auto racing.
His wife, the former Florence Hoffman, whom he married Jan. 25, 1941, died May 6, 1988.
He leaves two daughters, Irene Salinetti of Dalton and Judith Miner of Hinsdale, and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Mr. Wesley W. Crosier, 79, of Dalton, who died July 23, 1999, will be private. Burial will be in Ashuelot Cemetery, Dalton. Calling hours at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton, will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society or the Hospice Care of the Berkshires, both in care of the funeral home. 1919-2013 STEPHENTOWN Ruth J. Hoffman Atwater, 93 lifelong resident of Stephentown died peacefully on Friday morning February 8th at Springside of Pittsfield.
Born in Stephentown on September 8, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John H. and unice White Hoffman.
She was the loving wife of the late William E. Atwater, who died on February 23, 1990. They were married in New Lebanon, N.Y., on August 28, 1942. She attended Stephentown schools and in her earlier years worked as a domestic housekeeper in Williamstown. After her marriage and the birth of her son, Ruth was a homemaker who loved housecleaning, gardening, home canning and collecting ornaments.
She is survived by her son Kirk W. (Micky) Atwater of Montverde, Fla., grandchildren Chad W. (Vicki) Atwater of Montverde, Fla., Heather L. (Chuck) Riccardi of Stephentown, great-grandchildren Shelby and Cody Atwater; Travis and Derek Riccardi along with nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by siblings Dorothy Miner, Florence Crosier, John and William Hoffman.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Monday evening at 7 p.m. in the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, 457 NY 43, Stephentown where Rev. Trygve C. Tomlinson will officiate. Interment will be private in Garfield Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral home for visitation on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Crosier-Holmes Miss Jane Marie Holmes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Woodard of 187 Dugway Rd., Lenox, became the bride of Alan David Crosier of Cape St., Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Crosier of Wesfield, formerly of Adams, Saturday afternoon at 2 in the Lee Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Percy L. Pierce, pastor, a former pastor of Trinity Methodist Church here, officiated at a double-ring ceremony. Miss Carol M. Woodard of Lenox, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Miss Pamela Crosier of Adams, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl. Leon Crosier of Hudson, N.Y. was his brother's best man. Two other brothers, Mark Crosier of Westfield and Earl Crosier of Adams, were ushers. Bride's Gown The bride, given in marriage by her brother, Chester Holmes of Westfield, wore a waltz length dress of silk taffeta and Chantilly lace designed with fitted bodice, long lace sleeves and a full taffeta skirt with front drape of lace. Her short illusion veil fell from a seed pearl crown. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses with streamers. The maid of honor had a red velvet gown and white fur pillbox. Her flowers were red roses and pompons in cascade style. The flower girl also wore red velvet and white lace with a fur headbancl. Her bouquet was of roses and pompons. A reception in the church parlors followed. Mr. and Mrs. Crosier will reside in Lee after their return, Jan. 18, from a wedding trip. The bride, a 1962 graduate of Chester High School, attended Berkshire Community College, Piltsfield. She is a nurse's aide at Edgecombe Nursing Home, Lenox. The bridegroom, whose maternal grandmother is Mrs. Charles E. Wemple of 8 Beech St., Adams, with whom he formerly resided, was graduated from Lee High School in 1953. He served a three-yeear tour of duty in the U.S. Army, two of which were in Germany. He is employed at the Peter J. Schweitzer Division of Kimberly-Clark Corp. in Lee.

HAVERHILL: Jane M. (Holmes) Novak, passed away at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill on October 10, 2014, after a heartbreaking battle with cancer.
Jane was the widow of Frank W. Novak, formerly of Haverhill. She was predeceased by her parents, Chester Holmes Sr. and Eva Holmes. She leaves the loves of her life, her three children; a son, Alan D. Crosier Jr. and granddaughter, Jade of Haverhill; a daughter, Elaine Mangaroo and grandson, Eric of Haverhill, and a daughter, Melissa Crosier and grandsons, Skyler, Corey, and Chance of Haverhill. She also leaves a stepdaughter, Diana Metcalf and five granddaughters, and great-grandchildren of Plano, Ill.; a brother, Chester Holmes of Deltona, Fla. and a sister, Pauline Miller of Worcester, Mass. And last but not least, some very special friends.
She worked for many years at Alcoswitch in North Andover. Other employment was Gould and Alden Merrill of Newburyport, EastPak of Bradford, Bethany Homes at Nichols Village in Groveland, and most recently retired from the Salvation Army store in Haverhill.
As per our mother’s request, her children invite her friends to attend a celebration of her wonderful life complete with Rock ‘N Roll music from the 50s and 60s, fond memories, fun, and great food to be held at her residence on Friday Nov. 7, from 6 to 10 p.m. R.S.V.P. NOT required. Any friends or previous co-workers that have any questions are more than welcome to call her son, Alan. She will be greatly missed
