NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Ralph Louis Lavigne, 62, of 4 Walker St., died Thursday, June 19, 2003, at North Adams Regional Hospital, where he was admitted on June 8.
Born in North Adams on July 4, 1940, son of Antoinette M. Trisorio Lavigne Rosse and the late Ralph L. Lavigne, he attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School in 1958.
He was an Air Force veteran.
Mr. Lavigne was firefighter with the Pittsfield Fire Department, until his retirement in 1988. Before that, he was a firefighter with the city of North Adams. When he was younger, he worked as a carpenter for several area contractors.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a fan of the New York Yankees.
Besides his mother, he leaves his wife, the former Constance C. Sprague, whom he married on May 24, 1986; one son, Anthony L. Lavigne of North Adams; two stepsons, Frank F. Bird of Clarksburg and Frederick John Bird of Adams; two sisters, Linda Kavee of Briarcliff, N.Y., and Marianne Schieffer of Stevens Point, Wis., and six stepgrandchildren, Aaron, Matthew and Tanner Bird of Adams, and Ryan, Nolan and Hayden Bird of Clarksburg; an uncle, Michael Trisorio of Clarksburg, and nieces and nephews.
A stepdaughter, Cynthia A. Palumbo, died June 17, 1991.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mr. Lavigne will be Tuesday at 9:45 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. Funeral Mass at 10:30 at St. Anthony's Church Parish Center, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 5 to 8. Donations in memory of Mr. Lavigne may be made to the American Lung Association in care of the funeral home.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Constance C. Bird Palumbo Lavigne, 77, of 4 Walker St. died on Nov. 19, 2014, at North Adams Commons surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Williamstown on Dec. 30, 1936, a daughter of Edwin and Birdine Larabee Sprague, and stepdaughter of Viola Byron Greenlaw Strack Sprague, she attended schools in Williamstown and graduated from the former Dalton High School.
Mrs. Lavigne was employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. and later at the family franchises of Subway in Williamstown and North Adams.
Her husband, Ralph Louis Lavigne, whom she married on May 24, 1986, died on June 19, 2003.
A devoted mother and grandmother, she was a member of First Baptist Church and of George L. Curran VFW Post 996 Ladies Auxiliary. She also had been a cancer survivor and participated in the Northern Berkshire Relay for Life. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family and was a full-time fan, supporting all of her grandsons sporting events.
She leaves two sons, F. John Bird Jr. of Adams and Frank Bird and his wife, Terri, of Clarksburg; four sisters, Nancy Bernier, Rose Malloy, Sandra Nolan and Judith Brazee; two stepbrothers, John Strack and Horace Greenlaw; six grandchildren, Aaron Bird, Ryan Bird, Matthew Bird, Tanner Bird, Nolan Bird and Hayden Bird; her longtime friends Betty Belding and Courtney Bussiere, and many nieces, nephews and long time friends.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia Ann Palumbo; her daughter-in-law Sally Bird; her longtime companion, Frank "Coach" Nolan; her sisterDonna Sprague Czarnecki and stepsistersVina Greenlaw Ferris and Jean Strack Morgan; her brothers, Edwin Sprague Jr. and Kenneth Sprague, and stepbrothers Harry Greenlaw and Frederick Greenlaw.
FUNERAL NOTICE - Funeral services for Mrs. Lavigne will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at First Baptist Church in North Adams at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, Nov. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams.
Donations may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 996 through the funeral home.
Mrs. Lavigne's family would like to thank the staff at North Adams Commons for all the support that was given in this very difficult time. The love and amazing care will always be appreciated and never forgotten.

1933 -2013 ADAMS Lucille (St. Cyr) McLear, 79, of 12 West St., died on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She was born in North Adams Kon Nov. 12, 1933, a daughter of the late Moise and Yvonne (Delisle) St. Cyr. She attended schools in North Adams and graduated from the former Notre Dame High School with the class of 1951. Mrs. McLear worked as a cashier for Big Y Supermarket in Adams until retiring. She was a communicant of the Parish of Blessed John Paul, Adams. She was a member of the Adams Senior Citizens. Her husband, William F. McLear, whom she married July 18, 1953, died June 24, 1968. She is survived by a daughter, Noelle Pandell, and her husband, Lawrence, of Adams; three sons, Keith McLear and his wife, Susan, Kevin McLear and his companion, Christine Schrade, and William McLear and his wife, Lynn, all of Adams; one sister, Annette Knickerbocker of Milford, Maine; two brothers, Lawrence St. Cyr of Lady Lake, Fla., and Albert St. Cyr of North Adams; 19 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Norman and Ernest St. Cyr and by a sister, Celia Barcomb. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Richard Louis Lefebvre, 83, of 41 Taft St. died Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield after a sudden illness.
Born in North Adams on June 30, 1930, a son of Joseph and Rachel Bessette Lefebvre, he graduated from the former Holy Family School and graduated with the class of 1949 from Drury High School.
A proud and decorated Air Force veteran, he served as a sergeant during the Korean War.
Mr. Lefebvre was employed for many years in the quality control department at the former General Photo in Williamstown.
He was a longtime communicant of the former Holy Family Church and later of the Parish of Sts. Patrick and Raphael in Williamstown. He was a member of the Clarksburg VFW and the Williamstown American Legion. He took great pride in maintaining his yard and home and enjoyed spending time with family. He loved watching his children and grandchildren participating in their many activities and was often seen at their sporting events throughout the area.
He and is wife, the former Joan St. Cyr, were married May 12, 1956, in the former St. Francis' Church.
Besides his wife of 57 years, he leaves three daughters, Lisa Armstrong and her significant other, Chip Gardner, of North Adams, Leslie McConnell and her husband, Gary, of Virginia and Patrice Maynard and her husband, Jay, of Lanesborough; three sons, Richard G. Lefebvre and his wife, Diane, of Clarksburg, Daniel J. Lefebvre and his significant other, Marilyn, of North Adams and Jon P. Lefebvre and his fiancée, Susan, of Rhode Island, and nine grandchildren, Nick and Ben Randall, Seth, Allyson and Lindsay Maynard, Matthew, Tyler and Chelsea Lefebvre and Kayla Armstrong.
FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Lefebvre will be celebrated Friday, July 19, at 11 from St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial with military honors will follow in Southview Cemetery in North Adams.

She graduated from St. Joseph High School in North Adams with the class of 1948 and then graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Pittsfield in 1951. Joan was a registered nurse at North Adams Regional Hospital and for various nursing homes in Berkshire County. She was a communicant at Holy Family Church in North Adams and later at St's Patrick and Raphael Parish in Williamstown. Her greatest joy was her family and being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the St. Luke's Alumni Assoc. Her husband, Richard Louis Lefebvre, whom she married May 12, 1956 in St. Francis of Assisi Church died July 14, 2013. Survivors include her six children: Lisa Armstrong and her significant other, Chip Gardner, Leslie McConnell and her husband, Gary of VA, Patrice Maynard and Jay of Lanesboro, Richard Lefebvre and his wife, Diane of Clarksburg, Daniel Lefebvre and his significant other, Marilyn of North Adams and Jon Lefebvre and fiancee, Susan of Rhode Island. The 50th Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Crosier.
Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Crosier celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their home in Halifax on Dec. 1. They were married In Halifax and have always resided there Mr. Crosier was a wagoner of Co, F, 10th regiment, Vermont Volunteers. Owing to the health of Mr. Crosier, only tbe children and brothers and sisters of the
bride and groom were Invited. On the day preceding, some of the children might have been seen wending their way to the old homestead, and by noon of the wedding day, the company was all assembled. Mr. and Mrs. Crosier have been blessed with 13 children, 10 of whom are living, six sons and four daughters. All were present with the exception of one son, who is a High school principal In Iowa. Of the 16 grandchildren, 13 were present..
After fond greetings and hearty congratulations all were ready to partake of the bountiful dinner, which was greatly appreciated by the married sons, who always enjoy "mother's cooking."
The presents were numerous, both useful and ornamental, and included a purse of gold. Several appropriate songs and recitations were rendered by tbe grandchildren, and a poem written for the occasion was read. After wishing them many happy returns of the day, leave-takings were said, and all departed for their respective homes.

Chloe Ann Stacey Crosier, widow of the late Rufus Crosier, died ot pneumonia at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Learnard in Halifax, Vt., April 23 at the age of ? years. Mrs. Crosier was born in Halifax, one ot 10 children of Sophia Sumner and Eber Stacey. All off M r s . Crosier's l i f e was spent in Halltax with the exception of one year in North Adams, the first year of her married life. Mr. and Mrs.,Crosier were married in Halifax December Thirteen children were born to this happy couple. The oldest, daughter died at the age of 14 years. Twelve lived to manhood and womanhood, 7 survive their parents. They are Mrs. Charles Learnard and Perley Crosler of Halifax, Onley and Myron Crosier of Shelburne Falls, Mrs. Daniel May of Westfield, Mass., Mrs. Alma Hamilton Ames, Eber Merton Crosier, professor in a school in Iowa. Mrs. Crosier leaves 20: grandchildren, Mrs. Henry B. Mann of Wilmington being one of the number. Fourteen great-grand chidlren and one great-great-grandchild, one brother, Charles Stacey, who lives in Brattleboro, and one sister, Mrs. Susan Larabce of Halifax. Mr. Crosier was a soldier in the Civil war. He drove the horses during the war. Mrs. Crosier carried on the farm, took care of her children and administered to the sick for miles around. On December 1, 185S Mr. and Mrs. Crosier celebrated their golden wedding In their home. The function was largely attended by relatives and friends from the surrounding towns. About 30, years ago Mr. and Mrs. Crosier went to live in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Learnard,. Mr. Crosier passing away there in 1903. Although Mrs. Crosier had attained the great age of 96 years, her mind was unimpaired. Her life was sunny with a smile for all. Her dayley routine was sewing, knitting and reading. She was well posted in current events and was greatly iimpressed with the wonderful age we live in and enjoyed relating the manner of living when she was a girl compared with the present time. Every one loved Grandma, Crosier, and hoped to have her years reach the century mark.
Her funeral was held I n her daughter's home Sunday at 2 o'clock. She was burried at the side of her husband in their home town.

West Brattleboro, Miss Patience Stafford. A remarkable case of longevity was given this week in the case of the death of Miss Patience Stafford. She was born In the year 1801, and had attained unto the advanced age of 94 years, 5 months and 12 days. She was one of the 11 children of Stutley Stafford of Colraln, Mass., whose family consisted of six sons and five daughters. She was aunt to James and William LeRay, and made her home with Timothy Crosier, being an aunt also to his first wife. These were her nearest living relatives. The funeral services were held at Mr. Crosiers home In this village Wednesday afternoon. Rev, F. S. Smith officiating. In this death, a generation closes, and a long and busy life ends. But few of our residents were aware that there had lived In our midst so aged a person, whose life extended almost over a century of years.
