Vermont phoenix. (Brattleboro, Vt.) May 04, 1894, Mrs. Archie Crosier was assaulted, evidently with murderous intent, at her home on Jackson street at North Adams one day last week. Two women called at the house and asked for Mr. Crosier, and when told that he was at work they said that they would do their business with Mrs.Crosier and entered the house. After talking about church matters they asked for a drink of water, and while one of them was being served Mrs. Crosier was pounced upon, her assailants attempting to strangle her. The last she heard her visitors say wore the words: "She will never trouble us again." Mr. Crosier on returning from work found his wife asleep, as he thought, on the lounge. He soon found a note poorly written saying: "Leave her alone, she will sleep. A. Crosier, jealous." He saw then that his wife was not asleep, but unconscious and bearing marks of foul play. A doctor was sent for and succeeded In rousing her. Mr. and Mrs. Crosier are at a loss to account for the deed. Mrs. Crosier remembers a woman accosting her on the street who said to her that Crosier could be seen at an unseemly hour in company with another woman. The police are working on the case |

From Ancestry Message Board, July 31, 2008 from Robert Breen: My Great Grandfather, Henry Breen, and Perley Safford Crosier had a Bakery in New York City around 1870. Perley was born in Searsburg, Vt 18 Sep 1845 the son of Levi Crosier and Abigal Basset. He married Sarah Shirmer 24 Aug 1870. First Baptist Winter Haven started in a schoolhouse in the summer of 1885. Mrs. S.A. Crosier, a member of Thirty-Third Street Baptist Church, New York City, living in Winter Haven, raised funds from her home church in New York to begin a Baptist work in Florida. Crosier and Mrs. S.A. Crosier. The Rev. P.S. Crosier was the church's first pastor. In 1886 the church was received into the South Florida Baptist Association. The first church was erected at the site of Third Street and Central Avenue S.W. for the sum of $700. from: http://www.floridabaptisthistory.org/biographies P. S.
