          Miss Susan Crosier O.T.C. Director of occupational theripy at Adams Nursing Homes, Inc. is conducting a training course for occupational therepy aides at the nursing homes in Williamstown and Adams. Miss Crosier is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick E. Crosier of Wells Ave. The course participants will attend lectures and discussions on the theory of occupational therapy and will learn such craft as knitting crochetting sewing leatherwork metalwork rushing crewel embroidery and weaving.
          In addition Miss Crosier will teach them how to organize parties and games as well as instructing the students in gardening cooking and sports.
          The program began on July 31 in Williamstown and will begin on Aug. 21 in the Adams home.
          Miss. Crosier received her bachelor's degree from Tufts University's school of occupational therapy in 1965 and was registered by the American Occupational Therapy Assn. in the same year.
          Miss. Crosier affiliated in general medicine at the District of Columbia General Hospital Washington, D.C. in psychiatry at Michael Reese Hospital Chicago, Ill. and in physical medicine at Albany N.Y. Medical Center. Before returning to North Adams she worked at Boston State Hospital. Beginning Sept. 8. Miss Crosier will serve as consultant in occupational therapy for the Adams Nursing Home.

          Miss Susan Carol Crosier became the bride ofC. R . Jones at a 3 p.m. ceremony at the UnitarianUniversalist Church, North Adams, Mass. On Saturday, October 11. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Herbert Weeks, pastor of the church.
          Mrs. George Rodrigues Was organist and the church was decorated with white gladiola and chrysanthemums.
          The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrf Frederick E Crosier of North Adams. Mr. Jones is the son of Mrs. Weston E. Jones of Charles City, la, and the late Mr. Jones.
          The bride was attired in an Edwardian Revival gown of ribbed silk ottoman. The floor-length gown was made with a high collar, long full sleeves with deep cuffs and a fitted bodice. The collar, cuffs and bodice were trimmed with heavy cotton lace in a shell and popcorn design. Her floorlength veil was attached to a circle of matching lace and she carried a colonial bouquet of white shasta daisies, pompons and yellow sweetheart roses with maiden hair fern.
          Mrs. James F. Baird of Northboro, Mass. sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Ruby Rogers of Cooperstown and Mrs. Peter Stevenson
          of Cazenovia, both classmates of the bride. They were dressed alike in floor-length gowns of celery-green, silk-sari cloth, trimmed with gold borders and medallions.
          They carried bouquets of lemon yellow miniature carnations with bows of moss green velvet ribbon.
          Clay Lancaster of New York City served as best man. Ushers were Carroll Hoff of Lancaster, Pa. and Charles Tichy of Woodbury, L.I.
          The wedding rings were made by Alfred Wardle of the School of Art, Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute in Utica.
          A reception followed the ceremony at the Heartwellville Lodge. Mrs. Jones was graduated from Tufts University, studied art history at the University of Kansas and received the Master of Arts degree from the Cooperstown Graduate Program. She has been director of the Oneida Historical Society at Utica since October 1968.
          Mr. Jones was graduated from Iowa State University at Ames, studied art history at the Ne w York University Institute of Fine Arts and received the Master of Arts Degree from the Cooperstown Graduate Program in 1965. From 1965 to 1968, he was director of the Concord Antiquarian Museum, Concord, Mass. Currently, he is associate curator with the
          New York State Historical Association.
          After the wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Jones will make their home in Middlefield.

          Vera L. Somes 83, of Devonshire Estates in Lenox, died Tuesday October 28th at Fairview Commons in Gt. Barrington.
          She was born in Adams on August 23, 1931 the daughter of Walter and Gladys Wemple Crosier and was educated in the Adams Elementary Schools. She later moved to Lee and graduated from Lee High School in 1949.
          After graduation she was in nursing training at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington D.C. She returned to Lee in 1953 where she married her husband Malcolm Somes. They had celebrated their 60 Wedding Anniversary being married November 21, 1953
          Besides her husband of Lenox she leaves three sons Scott L. Somes of Manchester Ct., Lance N. Somes of Lee, and Terry A. Somes of North Port, FL.; one daughter Kathy M. Hatch of Gt. Barrington; three brothers Leon C. Crosier, Alan D. Crosier and Mark M. Crosier; Two Sisters Jean E. Becker and Ruth E. Bridigan and one granddaughter Erin Somes. She was predeceased by her brother Earl W. Crosier
          Visiting hours at the Kelly Funeral Home will be Friday October 31st from 4-7.

          Malcolm E. Somes, 87, of Devonshire Estates in Lenox, formerly of Lee, died peacefully Wednesday, August 26th, at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
          Born in Otis on July 24, 1928 he was the son of Edmund and Eunice Morgan Somes. He was educated in the Otis Schools and was a 1947 graduate of Lee High School.
          Mr. Somes served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1949 until 1952 and was discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
          After the service he attended Nashville Diesel College in Nashville, TN. Upon returning to the Berkshires in 1954, Mr. Somes worked at the Clark-Aiken Co. in East Lee, the Lenox Machine Co. in Lenox Dale and the former Beloit Corporation in Lenox Dale, from where he retired.
          His wife, the former Vera L. Somes, whom he married Nov. 21, 1953, died Oct. 28, 2014.
          He leaves three sons; Scott L. Somes of Manchester, CT, Lance N. Somes of Lee, and Terry A. Somes of North Port, FL; one daughter Kathy M. Hatch of Gt. Barrington; two brothers Marshall Somes of Otis, and Melvin Somes of Lanesboro; and one granddaughter, Erin Somes.
          A grave side service will be held at a later date at the Veterans Cemetery in Sarasota, FL.

          GALESBURG - Winifred J. "Winnie" Knox, 82, Galesburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg.
          She was born Sept. 27, 1933, in Monmouth, the daughter of Leonard H. and Bertha N. (Cummings) Crosier.
          Winnie married John O. Davis Jr. in 1954, he preceded her in death. She later married A. DuWayne Knox in 1990. He preceded her in death in January 2014.
          Winnie loved chocolate, playing games, watching sports and most of all, laughing and spending time with family and friends.
          Surviving are three children, Cindy (Craig) Hisler of Marshall, Michigan, Steve (Marti) Davis of Anchorage, Alaska, and Julie (Tim) Troyer of Angola, Indiana. Also surviving are two grandsons, Cory and Colt Davis of Michigan; four stepgrandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Lu Butler of Rogers, Arkansas; one brother, Bob (Sandy) Crosier of Roseville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
          She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and brother-in-law, John R. Butler.
          A gathering of family and friends will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Roseville Food Pantry. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, is in charge of arrangements

          Alvin DuWyanne Knox, 81, of Galesburg, passed away Jan. 7, 2014, at OSF St. Mary’s Hospital in Galesburg, following complications of surgery.
          He was born Sept. 27, 1932, at home in Monmouth to Allan and Mary (Brimmer) Knox. DuWyanne was one of 14 children: seven boys and seven girls. He enjoyed several sports during his school years, earning the nickname “DuWorm” for his outstanding evasive action on the football field.
          He was married to Marylu Payne Feb. 8, 1954, in Parkland, Md., following his discharge from the United States Air Force. DuWyanne served from 1950 to 1954, working as a Radio Technician in Korea during wartime. Following his discharge from the military, he attended Monmouth College, graduating in 1958 with a degree in Finance. During college he worked for Vickroy Furniture in Monmouth.
          He is survived by five children born of this marriage: Valerie (Al) Sobrack, of Bigfork, Minn.; Kim (Don) Bouchard, of Apple Valley, Calif.; Tracy (Steve) Armitage, of Greeley, Colo.; Cheri (Steve) Castle, of Loveland, Colo.; and Allan (Beckon) Knox, of Coon Rapids, Minn.
          DuWyanne began his career right out of college, working for Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Mich., as a Financial Analyst. He spent his entire career working for Ford; he was eventually transferred to the Philco Division in California in 1967. He was promoted to a Finance Manager position when he transferred to the Ford Aerospace Division in 1968 and moved his family to Huntington Beach, Calif. DuWyanne had the distinction of being named as the 100,000th citizen of Huntington Beach, and was honored in that year’s Independence Day Parade.
          He was married to Winifred (Crosier) Davis July 27, 1990, in Las Vegas, Nev. They lived for a time in Irvine, Calif. After his retirement they moved to St. George, Utah, and eventually returned to Warren County to reside in Roseville.
          He is survived by his five children; step children, Cindy (Craig) Hisler, of Marshall, Mich., Julie (Tim) Troyer, of Angola, Ind., and Steve (Marti) Davis, of Anchorage, Alaska; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grand and step-great grandchildren. In addition, he leaves behind three sisters, Beverly (John) Livermore, of Rariton, Judy (Jim) Howe, of Monmouth, and Sharon (Gene) Cation, of Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Chuck (Sue) Knox, of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Leonard (Mary) Knox, of Reynolds; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
          DuWyanne was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, four brothers and two grandsons.
          He was considered the patriarch of his large and happy family, and will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, sense of humor and humility.
          DuWyanne will be remembered with a visitation from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, followed by a private family burial in Monmouth. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Roseville Food Pantry, serving all needy families in Warren County.

          Dennis E. Jacques, 63, of Hudson, died Monday, October 9, 2006 after a ten and a half year battle with heart disease at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua surrounded by his loving family.
          Dennis was born September 7, 1943 in Somerville, Massachusetts, son of the late James Jacques and Izalee (Parks) Jacques.
          Mr. Jacques was the husband of Yvonne “Bonnie” (Crosier) Jacques of Hudson and together shared 41 loving years of marriage.
          Dennis served in the U. S. Army and was a member of the American Legion, Post 2 in Manchester.
          Mr. Jacques was also a member of the Elks, Lodge #720 in Nashua. While there he served as an Inner Guard from 1999 - 2000 and in 2001 - 2002 was named “Elk of the Year.” Dennis and his friend, Skip Jacques, until last year, ran the canteen at the Elks Red Cross Blood Drive and for eight years made chili and chop suey for blood donors.
          Dennis was an avid hunter and was proud of his 28 deer during his hunting career. He often said that he left all the deer on Bush Hill Road for others to hunt.
          One of his greatest joys in life was his grandchildren. He loved to take them fishing, camping, and numerous trips to Disney World. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
          In addition to his parents, Mr. Jacques was predeceased by a son Kevin Lee Jacques who died in 1967.
          Besides his loving wife Yvonne, survivors include one son and a daughter-in-law, Mark and Cathy Handy of St. Johnsbury, Vermont; a daughter and a son-in-law, Aileen and Liam Urbach of Hudson; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Richard and Kim Jacques of Putney, Vermont, and Donald and Bonnie Jacques of Enfield; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Jeanette and Brian Rutherford of White River Junction, Vermont, Sharon and John Foley of Orlando, Florida, Patricia and Norman Daigneault of Canaan, and Sheila Lancey of Orlando; Yvonne’s three sisters and their husbands, Ramona and Donald Allaire of Hyde Park, Vermont, Evelyn and Merle Jones of Waterford, Vermont, and Marilyn and Raymond Guyer of Lyndonville, Vermont; two very special grandchildren, Bailey and Connor Urbach of Hudson, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
          Burial took place on Friday, October 13, at 2 at the Lyndon Center Cemetery in Lyndonville, Vermont. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Dennis’s loving memory to either the Nashua Emblem Club #170, PO Box 113, Nashua, NH 03061, or to the NH State Association of the Emblem Club Scholarship Fund, Attn: Scholarship Chairman Sandy Jones, 568 Monadnock Highway, East Swanzey, NH 03446.           Edwin A. Colvin (March 20, 1927 - January 26, 2015)
          Edwin A. Colvin, 87, a former State Representative and a well-known resident of Shaftsbury, VT died Monday January 26, 2015 at the Vermont Veterans Home following a brief illness.
          He was born at the family home in North Bennington on March 20, 1927. He was the son of the late William and Catherine (LaFlamme) Colvin. Ed received his education in North Bennington and was a 1945 graduate of North Bennington High School.
          On August 13, 1945 Ed joined the United States Army Air Corps where served until May 25, 1947. He was stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi.
          On December 16, 1950 he married the former Barbara D. Crowley at the North Bennington Baptist Church.
          For 25 years Ed was employed in several capacities at Stanley Tools in Shaftsbury including as Plant Engineer and Plant Manager, retiring in 1972. While at Stanley Tools he developed several design modifications for carpenter squares and folding wood rules, for which Stanley holds patents today. Ed also owned a contracting business and built 14 homes including his own.
          From 1975 until 1982 he represented the town of Shaftsbury in Montpelier as a State Representative and from 1979 until 1982 he served on the board of trustees at the University of Vermont. These were but two examples of his dedication to giving back to community. He also developed the first zoning bylaw for the town of Shaftsbury and conceived of, raised funds for and oversaw the development of Howard Park, which remains a vibrant recreational area serving Shaftsbury and the surrounding towns.
          He later became involved in the real estate business. He first worked at Hoisington Realty in Bennington and later owned and operated Ed Colvin Realty until his retirement.
          Ed was a member of the Shaftsbury Fire Department and was a member of the former Bennington Club. He also served as Scout Master of Shaftsbury Troop 331. During his tenure as a Scout Master five scouts attained the status of Eagle Scout. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, fly tying, coin collecting and attending his boys sporting events.
          Survivors include his wife, Barbara D. Colvin of Shaftsbury; Two sons, William B. Colvin and his wife Jessica Chapman of Bennington and Edwin Andrew Colvin and his wife Shelley of Shaftsbury; a granddaughter Skye Colvin of Shaftsbury and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by two sisters and three brothers, Dorothy (Ward), Helen (Crosier), William, Russell and Harold.
          The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday January 30 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
          The burial with military honors will take place in the family lot at the Grandview Cemetery in North Bennington.
          If friends desire contributions in memory of Edwin A. Colvin may be made to either the Vermont Veterans Home Activities Fund or the American Diabetes Association through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
