ST. CROIX - Phil Crosier; his wife, Mary Crosie; their daughter, Stefanie Crosier; and Wallace Phaire Jr. brought back Gannet Home and Hardware store to Gallows Bay about three weeks ago.
Gannet originally opened in the 1960s. The Crosiers owned the family business from the mid-80s to 1995.
The store, which is titled as “St. Croix’s Original Family Hardware Store,” is located at 132 Mt. Welcome, behind Schooner Bay Market in Gallows Bay.
Stefanie Crosier said they’re happy to be home and excited to be selling hardware again. “We’re friendly, we know everybody’s names,” she said. “It’s a family hardware store and we have great service, a lot of selection and competitive prices.”
The store offers gourmet and basic kitchenware and cookware, bathroom accessories, cleaning supplies, hand tools, power tools, water filters, pumps, plumbing needs, automotive, pet supplies, lawn and garden supplies, outdoor grilling supplies, electrical supplies, flashlights and other hurricane supplies, vanities, toilets and locksmith services.
They offer Pittsburgh paints and a full selection of paint supplies.
“We can match your color, using a state-of-the-art paint machine,” she said. She also said they can match all paint brands, even if a customer brings in just a chip of paint.
Stefanie Crosier also said they take special orders, including for large appliances, such as refrigerators, ranges, washers and dryers.
Gannet currently employs 10 people.
The business is open Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
