          George F. Scace, 86, of 260 Cheshire Road died Saturday at Fish Memorial Hospital in Orange City, Fla. He had been wintering in Florida.
          Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 22, 1915, son of George H. and Delila Almstead Scace, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
          Mr. Scace was employed by General Electric Co. in Pittsfield from 1930 until 1975. He began in the old chemical department and held various positions throughout the company, including manufacturing engineering technician in the power transformer department.
          He played a large role in shaping the Building 600 assembly and test facility in the 1960s, and was involved in helping equip the new building and make it operational. He worked on the Mark II and III transformer design programs.
          He was a member of Pilgrim Memorial Church, where he served as deacon and trustee. He was also the treasurer of the Berkshire Association of Congregational Churches and Lay Ministry School. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs and had ushered at Tanglewood in Lenox for many years.
          His wife, the former Evelyn Burlingame O'Brien, whom he married Nov. 1, 1947, died in 1983.
          He leaves three sons, Harold Scace of Stockton, Calif., Kenneth Rice of Maple Hill, N.C., and John O'Brien of Pittsfield; a brother, Raymond Scace of Pittsfield; a sister, Charlotte S. Vosburgh of Pittsfield and Zephyrhills, Fla.; eight grandchilden, seven great-grandchildren, and his companion, Iva Cullett.
          There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Pilgrim Memorial Church, Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Lake Onota Preservation Association, in care of the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, which is in charge of arrangements.

          POWNAL -- Thomas Edison Bushee, 85, a resident of Route 7, Pownal, died Friday, July 1, 2005, at his home following a long illness.
          Born in Bennington, May 6, 1920, he was the son of Edward and Zeliae (Ellenberg) Humphrey Bushee. He received his education locally and was a 1938 graduate of the former Bennington High School.
          Tom married the former Marion Carolyn O’Brien on July 23, 1939 in Wilmington.
          Mrs. Bushee died March 3, 1997.
          He had been employed as a maintenance supervisor at the former BenMont Paper Company for many years. An avid golfer, Tom in earlier years worked as a golf professional in Bennington, Mount Snow and Florida state.
          Survivors include three sons, Roger Bushee of Clifton, Texas, Thomas Bushee of Buskirk, N.Y., and Scott Bushee, of Bennington; two daughters, Patricia Bushee, of Shoreham, and Linda Guerard, of Mulberry, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, including a granddaughter Monique Howard, who was his caregiver; and many great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Ann Ball of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Francis “Bang” Bushee, of Bennington; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, Mr. Bushee was pre-deceased by three brothers and one half-brother, Bernard, David and Douglas Bushee and Robert Humphrey.
          At Mr. Bushee’s request there will be no funeral services.
          Burial will take place in Crosier Cemetery, Searsburg, at the convenience of the family.

          Dorothy May Crosier, 85, a resident of Myers Road in Shaftsbury, VT., died on Monday, Oct. 9, at her home. She was born May 13, 1910 in Medford, MA., the daughter of Albert H. and Effie (Burrows) Orpet. In her early years she was married to Edward Francis Jones and, following his death, married Clarence M. Crosier. Mr. Crosier also predeseased Mrs. Crosier.
          She owned and operated Southern Vermont Real Estate for a number of years. She was an avid gardner and especially enjoyed growing flowers and blueberries.

          NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Keith Allyn Witherell, 45, of 11 Apache Drive died Thursday morning, Aug. 1, 2003, at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center as a result of a motorcycle accident July 29.
          Born in Pittsfield on June 17, 1957, son of James A. and Ruth Scace Witherell of Williamstown, he attended schools there and graduated from the Devereau (Pa.) Preparatory School. He received his commercial trucking license after graduating in June from New England Tractor Trailer School.
          At the time of his death, Mr. Witherell was employed by Taconic Valley Trucking Co. in Pittsfield. He first worked as a salesman at Anderson Furniture Store and with Kirby Vacuum Cleaners, both in Pittsfield, and Brookfield Shoe Store in Lenox. He also worked for Berkshire Custom Coating Co. in Pittsfield and Powder Shield Technologies in Adams.
          He enjoyed traveling, camping and outdoor activities, including riding his motorcycle, driving his truck and flying kites.
          Besides his parents, he leaves his wife, the former Mary Ozelek, whom he married May 19, 1978; a daughter, April Witherell of North Adams; four brothers, Eugene Witherell of the state of Florida, James Witherell of Dalton, Kent Witherell of Pittsfield and William Crosier of Syracuse, N.Y.; three sisters, Kate Witherell of Great Barrington, Jeanette Crosier of North Adams and Margaret Crosier of Syracuse; his paternal grandmother, Ethel Parrott of Pittsfield, and a grandson.
          A family member, Richard Eli "Reggie" Crosier, predeceased him.
          FUNERAL NOTICE - Calling hours for Mr. Witherell will take place Monday from 3 to 6 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels. Following the calling hours, all are welcome to a gathering to celebrate and remember his life at the Spruces Recreation Hall in the Spruces Mobile Home Park, Route 2, in Williamstown.

          Born on July 20, 1922 to James M. and Lena (Pierce) Sherman in Charlemont, he was a lifelong resident there. He married the former Ruth M. Parker on Feb. 13, 1948.
          In his early years, Floyd was a logger and built his own home and in the winter months worked for the ski areas in Charlemont. Later, he was groundskeeper for an exclusive retreat in Rowe, and caretaker for many summer homes in Heath, Rowe and Charlemont.
          An outdoorsman, he had a love of nature and hunting. He also loved polka music and playing the accordion and harmonica.
          Survivors include two sons: Lawrence and his wife Eden of the Phillipines and Dohn and his wife Connie of Rowe; his daughter: RuthAnn McCloud and her partner Scott Ripley of Montgomery; four grandchildren: Kischa Sherman, Sara Shallcross, Ben Sherman and Justin Sherman, and several great-grandchildren.
          In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to Meals on Wheels, in care of Franklin County Home Health Care, 330 Montague Road, Turners Falls, MA 01376.
          A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
          Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, 104 Bridge St., Shelburne Falls.
