NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Harry Edwin Greenlaw, 74, of 740 Daniels Road died Sunday evening, July 2, 2007, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, following a long illness.
Born in Calais, Maine, on May 2, 1932, son of Frederick Greenlaw and Viola Byron Greenlaw Strack Sprague, he moved to North Adams with his family as a child and was educated in North Adams schools, graduating from Drury High School.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he enlisted on Dec. 1, 1952, and served as a corporal with the Medical Corps. At the time of his honorable discharge on Oct. 29, 1954, he was assigned to the 1666 Headquarters Battery, 235th FA Battalion. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with bronze star, the National Defense Service Medal and the U.N. Service Medal.
Mr. Greenlaw worked at the former James River Corp. in Adams until retiring in 1992. He previously had worked in general contracting with Harry Byron Contractors in Ridge Manor, Fla., and in Rye, N.H., where he had resided a short time before returning to North Adams in 1961. He also worked for general contractors including Gordon & Sutton Contractors and Earl Coons for several years. Mr. Greenlaw had also worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. before and after his military service.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, of American Legion Post 125 for 39 years and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family.
He and his wife, the former Florence Luczynski, were married on April 18, 1953, in St. Francis' Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, James Robert Greenlaw of Woodford, Vt.; six sisters, Vina Ferris, Jean Morgan, Donna Czarnecki, Nancy Bernier, Constance C. Lavigne, all of North Adams, and Rose Molloy of Cheshire; three brothers, Horace Greenlaw and Kenneth Sprague of North Adams, and John Strack of Adams; three grandchildren, April Johnson of Clarksburg, Joshua Greenlaw and Nicole Greenlaw of Shaftsbury, Vt., and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers Frederick Greenlaw in 1992 and Edwin Sprague, Jr. in 2002.
FUNERAL NOTICE - Funeral services for Mr. Greenlaw, who died Sunday, July 2, 2006, will take place Friday at 11 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS-WEST CHAPELS.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are suggested for the Vermont Veterans Home, C Wing through the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.

John Clinton Clair, son of Wayne and Marie (McEvoy) Crosier, was born February 24, 1926, at home on a farm in Greene County near Bayard, Iowa. He attended rural school and then graduated from Bayard High School in 1943. Clair worked in a packing plant in Des Moines until he turned 18 years old in 1944 when he was drafted into the United States Army. Clair served in the infantry as a tank company commander in Korea waiting to be shipped to Japan. He was honorable discharged on December 30, 1946.
When he returned home, he purchased a new Chevy truck and went into business for himself hauling grain and livestock. While trucking he began farming the land his grandparents owned south of Coon Rapids.
On November 22, 1949, Clair was united in marriage with Irene Lumsden at St. Patrick’s Church in Bayard. They were the parents of two children and lived on a farm east of Bayard before moving to the McEvoy family farm south of Coon Rapids. In addition to farming his grandparents’ land, he worked at Garst and Thomas Seed Corn Company from 1958 to 1987. The family lived in town from 1959 until 1992 when they moved back to the family farm. Clair was a farmer and pony lover all his life and was very proud of the Brushy Creek horses he raised, trained and showed. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Coon Rapids and ASPC (pony association).
Clair had surgery on November 13, 2007, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll and remained there until his death (his retirement from the life he loved) on Friday, November 16, 2007, at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 23 days.
Preceding Clair in death are his parents; son Darrell Crosier; grandson Matt Crosier; sister Joan Crosier; mother and father-in-law Doris and Tom Lumsden and sister-in-law Arlene Lumsden.
He is survived by his wife Irene Crosier of Coon Rapids; daughter Diane Pore and Dennis Christianson of Coon Rapids; daughter-in-law LuAnn Crosier of Coon Rapids; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother Tom Crosier of Des Moines; brother-in-law Wallace Lumsden of Carroll; his faithful dog Dolly; other relatives and friends.

Irene Norma, daughter of Thomas and Doris (Cady) Lumsden, was born January 1, 1932 at Burke, SD. She moved with her family to places in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Nebraska before settling in Coon Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1949. Following her schooling she worked in a restaurant in Coon Rapids.
On November 22, 1949, Irene was united in marriage with Clair Crosier at St. Patrick’s Church in Bayard. They were the parents of two children and lived on a farm east of Bayard before moving to the McEvoy (Claire’s grandparents) farm south of Coon Rapids. Irene was a committed farm wife and helped with farming chores which included Claire’s ponies. The family moved into Coon Rapids in 1959. Irene worked at the Coon Rapids Enterprise and during detasseling and harvest season, Irene helped with book work and sorting corn for Garst and Thomas and Pioneer Seed Corn Companies. She also worked as a secretary and bookkeeper in a plumbing business and car dealership. In 1992 they moved back to the family farm.
At one time, Irene was active in the Annunciation Parish in Coon Rapids. She was also a Girl Scout Leader and a member of ASPC (a pony association). Irene always cared for a large garden and picked berries to be made into jam. She was quite a homemaker and enjoyed baking for her family, especially corn meal buns. Before her eyesight started to fail and arthritis set in, Irene enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Being outdoors and participating in hunting and fishing activities were important to her.
After the death of her husband and son in 2007, Irene found it difficult to enjoy life. She died at home on Sunday, July 31, 2011, at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 30 days.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Claire Crosier; son Darrell Crosier; grandson Matt Crosier and brother Wally Lumsden and wife Arlene.
Irene is survived by her daughter Diane and husband Dennis Olesen of Audubon; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; daughter in law LuAnn Dutcher of Fort Dodge; other relatives and friends.

Raymond Leon Crosier, 94, of West Suffield, beloved husband of Joyce (Lunden) Crosier, died peacefully on April 17, 2013 at Suffield House surrounded by his family. He was born on October 3, 1918, in Springfield, MA, son of the late Harold and Sarah (McAllister) Crosier. Ray grew up in Agawam and was a graduate of Agawam High School. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from the American International College in Springfield, MA and later his MBA from[H1] Boston University. He served during WWII as an Army medic with the 261st Medical Battalion in the Mediterrean and European theaters. After a long and successful career he retired as VP of Human Resources from the Wiremold Company in West Hartford, CT in 1983. Ray was an active member of Second Baptist Church, where he had served on several committees throughout the years. A kind, caring, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, and community leader. He will be greatly missed by all. Along with his wife of over 64 years, he leaves his daughters, Heidi Crosier-Sypitkowski and her husband Robert of Bangor, ME, and Mitti Mattson and her husband Dr. Richard Mattson of Branford, CT; grandchildren, Eben Sypitkowski, Samantha and Julia Traylor and Madeleine Mattson. He was predeceased by his son, Gary R. Crosier and his granddaughter, Christina Mattson. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Saturday, April 20th, at the Second Baptist Church in Suffield, with a reception following in the church hall. Burial will take place in Baptist Village Cemetery in East Longmeadow, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Second Baptist Church.

Joyce Elaine Crosier (nee Lunden), 92, died suddenly at St. Francis Hospital on October 1, 2013. She had resided in West Suffield with her loving husband, Raymond L. Crosier, who died earlier this year. Joyce was born on July 7, 1921, the eldest daughter of Ralph and Bertha Lunden. She graduated from Springfield Classical High School, subsequently earning her RN at Springfield Hospital. In Boston, she worked at Brigham & Women's and Deaconess Hospitals before returning to work as director of ER at Springfield Hospital. She became a visiting nurse after she and Ray started their family, eventually retiring to devote herself full time to them. As an active member of Suffield's Second Baptist Church, Joyce shared her musical and artistic talents through participation in their choir, bell choir and music and flower committees. Joyce brightened her surroundings; a green thumb of exceeding talent, a prolific painter of beautiful works and a woman whose own physical beauty was extraordinary, even in her 90's. Joyce was predeceased by her son Gary R. Crosier, her granddaughter Christina Joyce Mattson, her brother Kenneth M. Lunden, and sisters Irma Clark and Marjorie Poole. She is survived by her daughter Heidi Crosier-Sypitkowski and her husband Robert of Bangor ME and daughter Mitti Mattson and her husband Richard of Branford CT, as well as grandchildren Eben Sypitkowski, Samantha Traylor, Julia Traylor and Madeleine Mattson. Hope Winthrop MacKay and Louis Pyle Crosier were married on Martha's Vineyard yesterday. The Rev. John Schule performed the United Church of Christ ceremony at the Federated Church in Edgartown, Mass.
Next month, Mrs. Crosier, 28, is to become the director of admissions at the Tower School in Marblehead, Mass. Last term, she was the assistant head of St. Hilda's and St. Hugh's School in New York. She graduated from Princeton University and received a master's degree in education from Columbia University.
She is the daughter of Dr. Cynthia MacKay and Malcolm MacKay of Brooklyn. The bride's father is a managing director of Russell Reynolds Associates, executive recruiters in Manhattan. Her mother, a Manhattan eye surgeon, is an associate clinical professor of ophthalmology at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University.
Mr. Crosier, 32, is to become an associate in August at the Boston office of Goldman, Sachs & Company, the investment bank. He graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College, where he received an M.B.A. degree this month. He also holds a master's degree in education from Harvard University and is the founder of the Avocus Publishing Company in Gilsun, N.H.
He is the son of Claire Pyle and Robert N. Pyle of Washington. The bridegroom's mother is an account executive at Robert N. Pyle & Associates, a lobbying and public relations firm owned by her husband in Washington.
