          Obituary: Blaine Jarvis "Bud" Coffman, 56, of 3401 Avenue L, Fort Madison, Iowa, brother of a Peoria man, died at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 14, 1993, at his home.
          Born May 24, 1936, in Bowie, Texas, to Clyde Buckner and Irene Marcella Ingram Coffman, he married Betty Long on Jan. 18, 1968, in Carthage. She survives. Also surviving are four sons, Ricky D. Franklin of Fairbanks, Alaska, Norman and Randy Coffman, both of Fort Madison, and Tony Lee Franklin of Memphis, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Brett (Lisa) Selman of Houston and Mrs. Steve (Lynette) Carter of Fort Madison; one brother, Jerry of Peoria; and seven grandchildren. One son, Blaine Jr., preceded him in death.
          Memorial services were May 18 at Barr Memorial Chapel in Fort Madison.
          His body was donated to science.

          Alfred Duane Mullett Jr., 83, of Readsboro, Vt. passed away at his winter residence in Zephyrhills, Fl. on August 17.
          He was born on April 4, 1934 in Florida, Ma. to the late Alfred and Nettie Mullett. Al graduated from Drury High School.
          He was a former member of the Stamford Grange, The Hairpin Turners Sq. Dance Club, The Balance Rock Lodge Masons and the Stamford Community Church.
          He served as a former Stamford Vt. Selectman. Prior to his retirement in 2014 he managed The Readsboro General Store. He was an accomplished carpenter and helped build the store and many other projects for family members.
          He is survived by his son Steve Mullett (Linda) of Stamford, daughter Barb Martin (Neal) of N. Adams, and daughter Brenda Dente (Tom) of Readsboro. 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Sisters Pearl Mullett and Nancy Bellows of North Adams, brothers William and Earl of Florida, Ma. and Daniel of Adams. In addition to his parents, Al was predeceased by his son Roy Mullett, Priscilla Lawrence Mullett, former spouse, his sister Lena Hurlbut, and brother Kenneth Mullett.
          Al was an outdoorsman. He loved hunting with his sons, the Red Sox, bowling, fishing, and boxing. A memorable experience he had was hang gliding at the age of 76.
          At his request, there will be no services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
          Donations in his memory can be made to the American Cancer Society through the Flynn and Dagnoli -Montagna funeral home 521 West Main St. North Adams

          Earl W. Pelkey January 14, 2002
          Earl William Pelkey, 78, of 31 Pomeroy Ave. died Monday at Craneville Place, where he had been a resident for two weeks. He had lived in Dalton since 1966.
          Born in Dalton on Feb. 9, 1923, son of Edward and Birdella Crosier Pelkey, he attended local schools.
          An Army veteran of World War II, he served in Normandy with the 840th Army Corps of Engineers. While in Normandy for three years, he was in charge of heavy equipment, and helped level and prepare air strips and build bridges. Pelkey returned to the United States in 1945.
          He was employed as an operating engineer with J.H. Maxymillian Construction Co. from 1979 until his retirement in 1994. He worked on the demolition project for the GE 20s complex on East Street. Previously, he had worked as a heavy equipment operator for Farrell and Gregory. He worked on projects such as the Eisenhower Locks on the Saint Lawrence Seaway to refineries in the San Francisco Bay area. He worked for the S.J. Grove for 15 years and set the bridges on the New York Thruway in the Syracuse area. He worked on building the student union at the University of Massachusetts and set the steel for the former Hilton Hotel.
          He was a member of the Dalton Veterans of Foreign Wars. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
          He leaves his wife, the former Nancy E. Leabo, whom he married Sept. 1, 1957, in Pownal, Vt., and two sons, Rodney R. Pelkey and Edward D. Pelkey, both of Dalton. He was predeceased by three brothers, Edward L. Pelkey, late of New Jersey, who died in 1960; Joseph D. Pelkey, late of Novato, Calif., who died in 1993; and Elmer E. Pelkey, late of Pittsfield, who died in 2001; and a sister, Elaine R. Girard, late of Cheshire, who died in 1992.
          Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 17, at 10 at the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. John R. Smith, pastor of the Dalton United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Wednesday, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Pelkey's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association in care of the Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 East Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.

          Anna M. (Leise) Shippee, 80, of 121 Adamsville Road, Colrain, died Tuesday, Aug. 24 at the Franklin Medical Center, Greenfield.
          Born in Heath on Oct. 12, 1923, she was the daughter of Austin and Margaret (O’Keefe) Leise. She attended schools in Heath and was a graduate of the former Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls.
          She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, flowers and cooking.
          She leaves two daughters, Martha Caron, with whom she made her home, and Nancy Lescarbeau of North Adams; a son, Leon Shippee Jr. of West Springfield; a brother, John Leise of Montague; six grandchildren; two nephews and a niece.
          Her husband, Leon B. Shippee died in 1990.
          FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for Anna Shippee will take place Saturday, Aug. 28, 1 p.m., at East Cemetery in Rowe.
          There are no calling hours.
          In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northern Berkshire Business & Professional Women’s Scholarship Fund.

          Maria R. LeRay was born in WhitInghnm. Feb. 1, 1839, she was married to Foster Grousbeck and lived with him at Searsburg until 1892, when they moved to this place, She had been in feeble health for nearly a year, and died Feb. 19. She leaves besides her husband two children, Mrs. Nettie Goddnrd and Clarence H. Grousbeck, a slster, Mrs, Samuel Crosier, and two brothers, James of Brattloboro and William of Halifax. The funeral was held at the house Thursday, Feb. 21, and the burial was in Searsburg. Thus passes away a woman of quiet manners, patient and industrious and respected by all that knew her.

          SHAFTSBURY - Edwin Andrew Colvin, 48, a resident of Holliday Drive in Shaftsbury died unexpectedly Monday December 12, 2016 at his residence.
          He was born in Bennington, VT on July 6, 1968. He was the son of the late Edwin A. Colvin and Barbara D. (Crowley) Colvin who survives. Ed received his early education in Shaftsbury and was a graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School.
          In earlier years Ed was employed at H. M. Tuttle Company. He later owned Southern Vermont Appliance on Main Street in Bennington. Following a fire that destroyed the building he went to work for the FW Webb company
          Ed enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially time on the Battenkill River with his dad and the many great times in deer hunting camps with his extended family and friends. Ed enjoyed watching sports and was an avid New York Giants fan. Perhaps more than anything, Ed was known for his quick wit and unique ability to make anyone smile at any time.
          Ed's world changed immeasurably with the birth of his beloved daughter Skye. She was the light of his life and he cherished every moment of being her dad.
          Survivors include his daughter Skye Colvin and former wife Shelley Lettre Colvin both of Shaftsbury. Ed is also survived by former in-laws Michael and Cheryl Lettre of Bennington, former brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jeff and Heidi Harrington and very special nieces Alexis and Alicia Harrington, all of North Bennington. Ed's mother, Barbara Colvin of North Bennington survives, as does his brother William Colvin, William's wife Jessica Chapman and their daughter Mia of Bennington. Many cousins, near and far, also survive. Ed was predeceased by his father Edwin.

          GREENWICH - Joseph W. Crosier, 80, a resident of Main Street, died Thursday, May 10, 2007, at Saratoga Hospital with his family at his side.
          Born Dec. 16, 1926, in Hebron, N.Y., he was the son of the late Raymond and Emma (Walsh) Crosier.
          Mr. Crosier was a 1945 graduate of Washington Academy in Salem.
          He retired from Agway in Greenwich where he had been a truck driver for 38 years.
          Mr. Crosier was an avid bowler, enjoyed fishing, all sports on television, doing puzzle books, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
          He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Greenwich.
          In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Lawrence and Harold and sisters, Thelma, Marjorie, and Carolyn.
          Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Orpha Linendoll Crosier of Greenwich; four children, Cathy Pulichene and husband, Nicholas, of New Paltz, Colleen Kirk and husband, Douglas, of Greenwich, Carol Slater and fiancé, Dave Plasse, of Latham, and David Crosier and wife, Debbie, of Cambridge; one sister, Mildred West of Glens Falls; six grandchildren, Douglas J. and Benjamin Kirk, Jason, Jared, and Jessica Slater, and Christopher Pulichene; three great-grandchildren, Benjamin Jr., Brayden, and Lauren Kirk; and several nieces and nephews.
          A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich with the Rev. Keith Mann, officiating.
          Interment will follow in the Greenwich Cemetery.
          Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
          Memorials can be made to the Easton Greenwich Rescue Squad or the Centenary United Methodist Church.
